Artrageous fun is coming to Medina!

Imagine a team of professional artists and performers mixing captivating vocals and intricate choreography all while creating giant painted masterpieces right before your very eyes? On Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 pm *Artrageous* comes to the main stage at the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Rd., Medina. Described by the *Chicago Tribune* as “Picasso meets Blue Man Group,” the show is part rock concert, part art show, but all fun! The *Artrageous* professional touring group has performed over 3,000 shows, singing and dancing while creating stunning pieces of colorful art, all live on stage while interacting with audience members who become a part of the show. Attendees are invited to create their own unique souvenir by bringing along a t-shirt, a hat, or another personal item of their choice to be painted in a “splash zone” after the show. The event is sponsored by the Medina City Schools Foundation. “The Medina City Schools Foundation is thrilled to bring such a one-of-a-kind event to the Medina Performing Arts Center,” said Aaron Harrison, president, MCSF. “This unique fundraiser will help fund scholarships, classroom grants, and programming that support the students and faculty of Medina City Schools. What were they thinking: The cost of consolidating the CIFF Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News Thirty years ago, the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) experienced a major turning point when its board voted to move its screenings from the east side’s Cedar Lee Theatre in Cleveland Heights – where it had resided for the festival’s first 14 years – to downtown as part of the Cleveland/Tower City renaissance. “Being more centrally located, having larger venues at our disposal, and meeting the demand for more morning and late-night screenings helped change our fortunes,” recalls CIFF associate director Patrick Shepherd. Last year’s festival at the Cleveland Cinemas multiplex in The Avenue at Tower City offered 600 screenings of 211 feature films and 237 shorts from 71 countries, which attracted 105,839 attendees. Change is once again on the horizon, for CIFF movers-and-shakers have announced that for next year and for the foreseeable future the festival will travel 14 blocks east to Playhouse Square. The show was considered ground-breaking at the time because unlike most musicals, which follow a well-developed linear plot, Company uses songs presented as short vignettes in no particular chronological order to deal with adult themes and relationships that revolve around one of the character's 35th birthday. While Robert enjoys his bachelor lifestyle, his friends use the celebration of his birthday to push him to get happily married just like they are. As the story unfolds, Robert gets a closer look at what marital bliss involves and is not so sure that marriage is for him. Some of the more famous songs from Company include "Being Alive," "The Ladies Who Lunch," "Side by Side by Side," and "Another Hundred People." Company is directed by Rich Jagunic, with Sonny Sonnhalter as assistant director and Debra Burkhart as musical director. The producers are Mark Durbin and Gary Maher. The talented cast includes Jessica DeFrange, Brad Hills, Karen Spiegler, Brad Kisner, Adrienne Smedley, Will Crosby, Don Bernardo, Jennifer Kubinski, Brian Pichola, Libby Merriman, Sean Donovan, Amanda Smith, Ellie Kelly and Darlene Rocco. Gabriel was a soldier in the Second World War, during which he received a head injury that required a metal plate to be surgically implanted into his head. He often thinks he is not a person, but the angel Gabriel who opens the gates of heaven with his trumpet for Saint Peter on Judgment Day. Gabriel exudes a child-like exuberance and a need to please. *Cory Maxson (male, African-American, late teens-early 20s) - *Troy and Rose Masons’ son. A senior in high school.
