Equality Productions proudly presents auditions for The Boarder, a radio play written and directed by Lynne Aronson. The 45-minute production will be rehearsed and recorded online with live commercials and sound effects. Even with their combined incomes, they can't quite make ends meet. It is suggested that they rent a room to a boarder to make some extra dollars. An interesting and strange lady answers their ad and the sisters offer her the room. She has a few odd requests for her at-home, mysterious, business. Oh, and she has a cat. Auditions will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, 9/15 and Thursday, 9/17 beginning at 7:30 pm. The director will ask auditionees to read part of the script for your character. Even amid these trying times, there is still creativity within us. As an emerging playwright, I can help you find your voice in your written work. I can encourage you to explore beyond what you have already explored in your work. I can offer constructive feedback to develop your work further, based on goals you have for the play, short story, and novel you are writing. If the work just needs to be read by someone else, I can offer that as well. Fleshing out your literary voice and encouraging it to grow is important to me. If you would like to be tutored, please respond to this email. Sessions can be made on Zoom, Jitsi, or Facebook video through Messenger. $15/session, sliding scale as necessary. Once a session is set up, details to pay will be discussed. Tim Collingwood is a local actor, playwright, writer, and stage manager in the Cleveland area. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and English from Cleveland State University in 2010. His plays have been workshopped at Cleveland Public Theatre in their Entry Point series in 2019 and Leap/Conceive series in 2012, Talespinner Children’s Theatre’s PLAYground series in 2019, the Manhattan Project: Cleveland in 2017, OddyTheatreLab in 2011 . He is a member of Cleveland Public Theatre’s Dark Room monthly workshops. From 2015-2016, he was a member of Ensemble Theater’s Stagewrights program. He has written articles for Howlround on disability justice in theatre in 2019 and 2017 and has an essay in the recently published book Diversity, Inclusion, and Representation in Contemporary Dramaturgy: Case Studies From the Field.

SHAC is presenting these classes September 20 - November 4, 2020 as part of* Stay-in-Place Productions*, the arts council’s response to COVID -19 *Art Classes* Appreciating Photography Program Description: A survey of creative photography to see how different image makers have used the camera to create meaning throughout the history of the medium. Instructor: Benjamin Hauser NEW Beginning Scene Study Program Description: Learn to create interesting, three-dimensional characters through script analysis, outside research and inspiration, and collaboration. During week one we will go over some acting fundamentals, then by week two we will jump right into script analysis. The class will culminate in polished, performance-ready scenes that are presented over Zoom. Instructor: Nicole Coury Building An Online Craft Business Using Etsy Program Description: Etsy is a popular marketplace for selling handmade goods. Learn to open your own shop and build your online business. Topics include creating compelling listings, finding your target customers, getting found in search, branding, marketing, taking good photos, pricing strategies, and customer service. Instructor: Karen Koch Class Piano Program Description: Class Piano provides students with an exploration of the piano and beginning musical concepts such as high vs. low, piano orientation, steady beat/rhythm patterns and playing/reading music. This exploratory course is great for students to find out if they might be interested in beginning piano lessons or for students who have already begun piano lessons. Students will participate in a variety of games and activities in each session. Instructor: Alex Piepenbrink Chalk Pastel Portraits Program Description: Chalk Pastel Portraits is a course that teaches students to use chalk pastel to render the likeness of a face.
