Radio PLAY Saturdays (9/19 - 12/5) Session #1 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Ages 5 - 9) Session #2 @ 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Ages 9 - 14) Entire Session: $130 "I think radio plays are my favourite medium, as they make the listener work and create and contribute in a way that TV and film can never do, and they have an immediacy that written prose often lacks." ~ Neil Gaiman We’re living in a virtual world, so why not get with the times?! Radio PLAY is designed to teach students all about radio dramas. Working closely with Mr. Kyle and Mr. Matt over Zoom, students will learn all about radio plays, from foley to vocal work and even background music, before creating one of their very own. Radio plays are theatrical performances that are purely auditory; there is no visual aspect, so performers must rely on their vocal performances to convey the meaning of the story to the audience. Radio PLAY will help the students develop performance skills like projection, diction, and characterization, while also allowing them plenty of freedom to be creative! The students will create a radio drama to be presented over Zoom on Saturday, December 5th. This class will be held virtually over ZOOM. Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus 2020 Auditions - Online Video Submissions OPEN! Open to Singers in Grades 9-12! The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus is seeking enthusiastic singers in grades 9-12 to submit solo videos for the 2020-21 season auditions. Each audition will culminate with a virtual 10-minute interview with the directors, via Zoom, on Sunday, September 13. Students are welcome to prepare their own solo or choose a piece from the solo selections we have provided on our website. Everything students need to sign up for auditions can be found at coyc.cochorus.com<http://coyc.cochorus.com/>. The Youth Chorus 2020-21 season will begin the first week of October. Rehearsals will be held online in fall 2020 (October - December), with a virtual performance planned for December. Cleveland Orchestra Children's Choruses Online Auditions - September 12 & 14 Open to Singers in Grades 5-8! The Cleveland Orchestra Children's Choruses are seeking young singers in grades 5-8 to audition for our choral program on Saturday, September 12 and Monday, September 14. Auditions will be held online, and everything students need to sign up and prepare for their audition can be found on our website, cocc.cochorus.com<http://cocc.cochorus.com/>. Each virtual audition will last no longer than 10-minutes. The student will be asked to sing one verse of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" ("America") in the key of F major with the pre-recorded piano accompaniment provided on our website, and one verse of "America the Beautiful" ('Oh beautiful for spacious skies') in the key of D major without accompaniment. The student will also complete some short vocal and rhythmic exercises. The Children's Choruses 2020-21 season begins the first week of October. Rehearsals will be held online in fall 2020 (October - December), with a virtual performance planned for December.
