This is an interactive workshop where you should be prepared to share a sample of your work for discussion with Dave and the rest of the group. Dave will also explain how he went from being a deadbeat sleeping on his sister's couch to a published author now working on his fourth book. If he can do it, so can you! Bio Dave Hill is a comedian, writer, actor, and musician originally from Cleveland but now living in New York City. He has appeared on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Joe Pera Talks with You, Inside Amy Schumer, @midnight, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Tick and The Jim Gaffigan Show among other programs. And he plays a Devo-obsessed weed dealer in the upcoming film Drunk Bus starring Ozark’s Charlie Tahan and Will Forte. Dave is the author of three books, Parking the Moose (2019 Doubleday Canada/Penguin Random House), Dave Hill Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (2016 Blue Rider Press, and Tasteful Nudes (2012 St. Martin’s Press) and is a regular contributor to public radio’s This American Life and Live from Here with Chris Thile (formerly Prairie Home Companion). He is also the resident heavy metal expert on Malcolm Gladwell and Rick Rubin’s Broken Record podcast. Western Reserve Playhouse presents: “Love at a Distance: A Festival of Virtually New Works about Love and Marriage” A Night of Five Comedies by New Playwrights Show Dates: May 21, 22, 28, and 29, 2021 SYNOPSIS: Wedding season is upon us once again, but after a year in isolation, things feel a little different. Join us for a night of wacky comedic one-acts all about the proposal, the planning, and the happily ever after… maybe. WRP will be presenting a festival of new works, featuring our playwrights as much as our actors, in one last virtual celebration of love, and everything that can go wrong with it. Tickets will be $15 per viewer, and this performance will be pre-recorded, edited, and released May 21, 22, 28, and 29, at 7:30pm. “Mixmatched.com” (Jeff Yamokoski) shows perhaps the worst first date that somehow has a happy ending. The bride-to-be has too much wine and gives herself some horrible bangs in “Nothing Good Happens After Midnight” (Laurie Allen). A mother and father have very conflicting views on their daughter’s “non-traditional” ceremony in “Beach Wedding” (Vivian C. Lermond). “The ___ Wedding” (Josh Downing) shows a mother who just can’t accept her son marrying another man. And finally, “Happily Maybe After” (Zachary L. Manthey) shows Prince and Princess Charming in couple’s therapy after a horrific marriage. Macbeth and his wife are spurred by vaulting ambition to dark ends wracked with guilt and paranoia*.
