REMINDER - Auditions for NEW PLAY WORKSHOP – Potential Staged Reading in Fall/Winter 2021/2022

Have you ever wanted to be part of the workshopping process? Wanted to originate a character in a brand-new show? Wanted direct access to tell the playwright to their face all of your opinions and have them heard? If so, this might be the opportunity for you. Local playwright Brandi Eaton (Matt’s First Real Thanksgiving) has scripted a new full-length dramedy about the interpersonal workings of a family – and this time you can be part of it! Auditions will be held in-person as well as virtually. For a virtual audition (for those who are not fully vaccinated yet or who are unable to attend the in-person audition) – Please submit a monologue or a reading from the script (YouTube or Dropbox/Other video sharing site links preferred) to beaton2922(a)gmail.com before July 26th, 2021. JOB DESCRIPTION Performing Chorus Assistant Music Director + Accompanist Organization Description The Singing Angels, founded in 1964, is a nonprofit dedicated to youth development through the highest level of artistic achievement in the performing arts. The mission is to engage youth from all communities in quality music and performing arts education that teaches teamwork, builds confidence, and provides a foundation for life. Principal Function The Performing Chorus Assistant Music Director assists the Music Director with directing and conducting rehearsals and vocal performances to inspire singers, entertain audiences, and motivate new singers and audiences to engage with The Singing Angels. The Assistant Music Director will also serve as the primary accompanist for the Performing Chorus and work with the student musicians to prepare them for performances. The Assistant Music Director may fill in as the Music Director for a rehearsal or concert when needed. Each rehearsal and performance should deepen and expand upon the skills and knowledge they may receive in a school music class. Position * This is a part-time position. * The rate of pay is $67.50 per rehearsal or concert session. * If Assistant Music Director substitutes for Music Director at a concert, pay is $112.50. * Rehearsals are on the following days: o Saturdays, 12:30 - 3:30 pm (September - November; late January - May) o Sundays, 1:30 - 4 pm (October - November; March - May) o Tuesdays and Thursdays (7 - 9 pm) (September - October; late January - March) * The number of concerts range from 30 - 40 per year. Most of the concerts take place from November to December. * Various meetings are scheduled throughout the year based on availability. Job Duties The Assistant Music Director reports to the Music Director and is required to: * Work collaboratively and through a team-oriented approach with the Performing Chorus artistic staff to insure innovative, creative and educational programs. * Participate in the selection of the Performing Chorus repertoire. * Teach and run Performing Chorus sectional and full rehearsals when needed. * Accompany the Performing Chorus at rehearsals and concerts especially the two benefit concerts (November and May). * Assist with Performing Chorus solo auditions. * Participate Performing Chorus midterm and final evaluations. * Assist with selecting student musicians. * Supervise student musicians and ensure they are ready for concerts. * Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications * Piano accompanying capabilities. * Strong organization and communication skills. * Ability to communicate effectively with youth grades 5 - 12 and adults. * This job is appropriate for energetic school choral directors who have experience with grades 5 - 12, but theatrical music directors are also encouraged to apply. Literary Cleveland's* 2021 Inkubator Conference <https://www.litcleveland.org/events-programs/inkubator-conference-2021>*, is LIVE! This year, the conference runs until July 25th and is completely virtual for anyone to stream. Playwrights, novelists, or other interested parties can attend writing workshops, open mics, or panels like the following: *The "Writing Multiple Storylines" workshop *features best-selling author D.M. Pulley on July 21st from 4-5 pm EST. Participants explore parallel story structures and investigate ways of combining different perspectives to deepen the plot. *A panel on "Ethical Representation in Writing" *premieres on Sunday, July 18th, at 7 pm EST. Poet Quartez Harris, illustrator Julia Kuo, nonfiction author and DEI leader Dr. Deborah L. Plummer, and author Abby L.
