We're inviting YOU to audition for CADA’s Comedy Troupe, an innovative and groundbreaking project funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council, on September 21 and 23 from 6-8PM! The virtual audition will consist of an interview with Director Ruben Ryan and Assistant Director John Lynch, followed by an improv session with three applicants at a time. Physical address The Next Stage Comedy Troupe will provide an opportunity for a group of ten to fifteen actors with autism and/or disabilities to form an online comedy troupe as a pilot program for our 2021-2022 season. Selected troupe members will meet with guest artists to further their writing, collaborating, and performing skills throughout the fall. Members will also learn the practical aspects of forming a comedy troupe, taking turns in the roles of stage manager, technical director, while also learning basic marketing and advertising techniques. The troupe will manage a YouTube presence and master the essential aspects of developing online revenue streams. The troupe's first performance will be a comedy showcase in early December 2021. It is with deep sadness that Dover Players and playwright, Greg Lavelle have decided to postpone Greg's new play, The Truth Be Told, which was scheduled to be performed at the end of October and early November this year. We are still short of lead actors for this play and we prefer to wait until a later date when it is safer to perform our plays and musicals. Greg hopes to produce this play sometime next year when more actors will be able to audition and the winter months will be over. Thank you for your understanding.

*Beck Center Announces Auditions for….* *Elf* *The Musical* Open Call auditions will be held by appointment on *Sunday, Oct. 3rd* and *Monday, Oct. 4th* beginning at 5PM both days. Auditions will occur at Beck Center in Lakewood. The production team will also be accepting video submissions for this open call if that method is preferred. Callbacks (weekend of Oct. 9/10) *WILL* be held on site however. *WHAT TO PREPARE* Whether auditioning on site or via video submission, all we’ll need is 1 or 2 brief songs totaling no more than 90 seconds. No monologues needed. Please bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. *HOW TO AUDITION* On site appointments can be made by calling the Beck Center Box Office during normal business hours at 216-521-2540 x10. Video submissions should be sent to ScottS(a)beckcenter.org no later than Sat., October 2nd. *SHOW INFORMATION* *{Performances} * *ELF *will open Friday, Dec. 3rd and close Sunday, Jan. 2nd. There is a 5 day “no performance” buffer between Dec. 24th and Dec. 28th. *{Rehearsals}* Rehearsals will likely begin on Sat., Oct. 30th. *{Compensation}* It is anticipated that Two (2) AEA contracts will be available. All other performers 18 and older receive a stipend as well. If interested, EMC points are available. *{Covid Safety Requirements}* As part of Beck Center’s relationship with Actor’s Equity Assn., it is required that *100%* of our company be fully vaccinated. This will include *all *performers, designers, stage managers, crew and even musicians/orchestra. In order to audition you *must* show proof of vaccination either at the time of your audition or by emailing a photo of your vaccination card. *This includes ALL performers 12 years of age and older. No exceptions*. *See note below on children under 12.* *{Roles}* *ALL roles are available*. Principals and major supporting include BUDDY (ideally age 28 to 35), JOVIE (age 22 to 26), Walter Hobbs (age 45 to 60), Michael Hobbs (12 years old) and Santa (timeless, of course). *ELF* has a very robust ensemble featuring all ages (9 to 70) as well. Karamu House Assistant Stage Managers

Karamu House, the oldest producing black theatre in the country is seeking Assistant Stage Managers (ASM) for the 2021-2022 Season. Hiring will take place on an ongoing basis throughout the season. ASM's report to the Director of Production and the Production Stage Manager and work as a member of the technical crew assisting the Stage Manager with any and all stage management responsibilities during rehearsals and performances for Karamu's 4 show mainstage season as well as productions and special events for other departments throughout the organization. Rehearsal and performance hours are typically Tuesday through Friday evenings and weekends. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES -Assist the Stage Manager for all mainstage productions. Specific duties per show will vary but generally include but are not limited to: - create actor packets and their contents, tape out the ground plan, prepare/restock the rehearsal hall, attend production meetings. -Rehearsals: make coffee and tidy up hospitality station; sweep, mop, pre-set props and set for beginning of rehearsal; create and update prop tracking and scene shift paperwork; be on book; stand by for scene shifts and scene resets; clean any necessary props at the end of rehearsal. -Designer Run / Prop Load Out / Moving to the Theater: provide the most updated paperwork to the Props Manager and Run Crew. -Coordinate, organize, and run any and all backstage traffic, scenic moves, and/or choreography to ensure the safety of actors and technicians; train run crew on backstage tracking and job responsibilities. -Assist the Stage Manager and Props Manager with strike. -Assist with Covid-19 safety protocols Successful candidates will possess the following: - Personable and culturally competent team player who is committed to collaborating in a safe, friendly, and inclusive work environment. -Ability to follow written and verbal instructions efficiently. -Strong organizational and time management skills. -Ability to multitask and meet deadlines. -Secondary skills in any technical area (wardrobe, lights, sound, video, etc.) is beneficial -Ability to troubleshoot and adapt throughout the rehearsal and performance process. -Comfortable working at heights on ladders, lifts, fly rail and grid. -Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds and work in low light situations. -Possess a positive work ethic and collaborative spirit -COVID vaccination strongly recommended Education and Experience -A Bachelor's Degree in theatre, a related field, or equivalent experience is required -Must have previous experience in stage management Job Types: Seasonal per show (September-June) Compensation: Stipend based on show needs and experience Submit: Please send cover letter stating your areas of interest, resume, applicable portfolio materials, and three references to submissions(a)karamuhouse.org<mailto:submissions@karamuhouse.org> with your last name and ASM in the subject line.
