Come join the return of the Sounds of St James Concert Series starting 4pm Sunday, November 5th, 2024. This special opening concert will feature the talents of the Guetle Cello Duo; Elisabeth Guetle and Olivia Guetle both accomplished musicians and daughters of our Music Director, Janet Guetle. The cello duos will feature Teleman Canonic Sonata No. 2 and Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Cellos in G Minor. The energy, joy and intricate melodies of these pieces will truly lift your spirits. This quick-tempoed music, demonstrates the performers mastery of their instruments. Vocal performances by Gillian Beckman, Liz Aranda and Yasmin Gerardi of the Cleveland Institute of Music will impress you as their considerable vocal abilities are showcased in their presentation of the much beloved music of Mozart, Shubert, Dell'acqua and Quilter. They will truly "raise a joyful noise " as St. James Church is filled with rich melodies and harmonies characteristic of this music. Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Idaho Shakespeare Festival (ISF) and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (LTSF), seek a Properties Lead. The Theatrical Properties Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of props design, construction, acquisition, maintenance, and coordination for theatrical productions. This key role involves working closely with directors, designers, and production teams to ensure that props enhance the storytelling and contribute to the overall success of the performance. Theatrical Properties Leads often work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the rehearsal and performance schedule. GLT is an indoor theater operating from Sept - May. ISF and LTSF are outdoor theaters operating from May - September. The role may involve physically demanding tasks, including heavy-lifting, and occasionally working in confined spaces or high heat. Press release Bram Stoker’s Bedtime Stories WordStage presents a Halloween Spooktacular! Known mainly as the author of the classic Dracula, Bram Stoker has not received the attention he deserves for his other masterly tales of horror. WordStage will endeavor to correct this oversight by presenting two of his spine-tingling short stories from the collection he titled The Bram Stoker Bedtime Companion. Featured are two examples of Stoker’s most macabre musings. First, we tell the terrifying tale of The Secret of the Growing Gold, which chronicles the scandals and animosities of two feuding families – the Delandres and the Brents - and the misfortunes visited on both their houses. The second is the recounting of an innocent student who, against all good sense and heedless of the residents’ warnings, rents The Judges House, and falls prey to the evil within it. The readings will be accompanied by malevolent music from classical composers such as Saint-Saens, Schubert, Grieg and Mendelssohn, performed on violin and piano. The readings will be performed by WordStage Company members Agnes Herrmann, Stuart Hoffman, Paul Slimak, Leslie Stager, Tim Tavcar and Brian Westerly. Their words will be enhanced by Mary Beth Ions on the Violin and Patrick Wickliffe on the piano. Our performance will take place on Saturday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the Wright Chapel at the Lakewood Presbyterian Church –14502 Detroit Ave, in Lakewood, Ohio.
