Dancers & movers ages 16+ are welcome to join CDP Company for a workshop on Mobility & Flexibility this Saturday Oct 7, 2-4pm. Workshop is $18 per person. In this 2-hour workshop, we’ll review how your individual joints are part of a bigger system and creating more space within those joints. We will also touch on creating strength in your joints, flexibility, mobility vs flexibility, why it’s important to know the difference, which is better for you and why you should always have a lacrosse ball with you. Rachelle Kucharski is a Certified Function Range Assessment Specialist and Certified FRC® Mobility Specialist. She is also certified in Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility. Having these various certifications allows her range in helping dancers, adult movers, or anyone who wants to extend the health and lifespan of their joints. Rachelle is passionate about helping everyone, regardless of their current activity level, create more space and strength in their joints. Her goal is to help you extend the life of adult dancers by taking better care of their joints and also reduces the risk of injury for all adults during slips, trips or falls. *This workshop is for all adults, not just dancers. Bring a yoga mat as we will be on the floor *Rachelle started dancing in her early teens and attended Baldwin-Wallace University where she earned her degree in Dance and Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing and Psychology. She has her MBA and SHRM-CP Certification working as SR. HR Generalist by day. In her spare time Rachelle continues dancing through Cleveland Dance Project and teaches at Interpretations Dance Academy. She has several certifications through Functional Range Systems (FRS), Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility. Rachelle feels fulfilled and overjoyed when she is able to help others achieve their goals in dance, movement, and everyday life through sharing her knowledge and experiences. Cleveland City Dance is excited to host Laura Alonso, daughter of world-famous ballerina Alicia Alonso and renowned teacher and coach, Fernando Alonso, is herself known as a teacher, coach, and an expert at staging the well-known classics. Although born in the United States, Alonso is a resident of Havana where she has an international dance school, Centro Pro Danza, which welcomes 1,500 students, and a professional performing company, The Ballet Classic of Havana. A teacher of world-class experience, Ms. Alonso has taught for professional ballet companies all over the world including Cuban National Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet, the Australian Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, the Cleveland/San Jose Ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Tokyo Ballet, the Toronto Ballet, the Alberta Ballet. For seven years, she served as the personal coach for international ballerina Alicia Alonso For seven years she served as the personal coach and teacher for international prima ballerina assoluta, Alicia Alonso. Dance Theatre of Harlem artistic director, former prima ballerina and former editor of Pointe magazine, Virginia Johnson, calls her an “international master teacher extraordinaire.” Laura Alonso will bring her teaching excellence to Cleveland City Dance from October 13, 2023.
