Kennelly Review: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

*Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein*, now at Playhouse Square’s Outcalt Theatre, weaves a mesmerizing tale about monsters both human and human-made. Playwright David Catlin has cleverly interspersed Mary Shelley’s well-known horror tale with the somewhat less well-known story about its genesis. It was 1816 and the wealthy, but socially outcast George Gordon, Lord Byron, had invited a trio of other British misfits (poets, teenage free-lovers) to join him and Dr. Polidore (his physician) in his Swiss lakeside villa.... It would be hard to overpraise this production. Directed with finesse by Michael Barakiva, the stellar cast of five actors summons Catlin’s layered drama to life with precision timing. The Dance Institute Now Announcing Auditions for a NEW work at The University of Akron

The Dance Institute of The University of Akron Presents Carnival of Animals Now announcing auditions for beginning-advanced dancers for a new contemporary ballet. Choreographers Julie Schullo, Elyse Morckel and Brian Murphy will be creating a brand-new piece to premier throughout Northeast Ohio! Where: Auditions will take place in studio 194 at Guzzetta Hall (228 E. Buchtel Ave. Akron, Ohio) at The University of Akron. Attire: Dancers should wear either a black leotard and pink/skin-tone tights or a form fitting black shirt and black leggings. When: November 18th 12:30 PM warm-ups 1-2:30 PM auditions Who: Open to all beginning-advanced dancers. The piece will combine elements of classical ballet and pointe, with contemporary ballet. Dancers cast in the ballet must enroll in one dance class at The Dance Institute. Dancers cast as principals or as a soloist, will be asked to join the Dance Institute Dance Company for the Spring Semester. Rehearsal schedule: Rehearsals will take place at Guzzetta Hall on campus at The University of Akron on Saturdays, from 9-12 PM for principal and soloist and Wednesdays, from 4:30-6:00 PM for other dancers. What makes musical theatre truly inclusive and adaptive? Inclusive theatre happens when accommodations are made so that anyone who wants to be involved can be involved. We like to say that we “remove barriers to entry”; whether that means having an ADA-accessible stage, an ASL-interpreted performance, selective levels of involvement or anything like that, we embrace those needs and do what we can to meet them. Theatre Agápe has committed to: -making all performances sensory-friendly and creating a Sensory-Friendly Break Space -offering tickets that are donation-based Pay-As-You-Like -providing ASL-interpretation during our Saturday, November 4th performance Theatre Agápe is putting their service where their art is! The timeless classic *The Wizard of Oz* is being presented as an Inclusive and Adaptive production through a partnership with Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Rotary Club of Cleveland. Volunteering your time and holiday spirit is one of the most generous gifts to give this holiday season . . . plus it ensures a spot on the nice list! Since there is plenty to do and a variety of volunteers needed, Santa sent over these position descriptions to pique your interest. * Elves play a crucial role in creating a magical and enchanting experience. Main responsibilities include spreading cheer, laughter and happiness. Engages with guests and leads festive songs and dance. * Santa Claus brings joy and happiness to children of all ages. Visits with guests and listens to their wish lists. Poses with photos and videos. North Pole Adventure Training These trainings will cover the overall NPA program, various techniques to effectively engage passengers, and logistics*.
