Two Faces of Jane, a mental health 501c3 nonprofit, will be presenting *People, Places and Things* by Duncan MacMillan at the Kennedy Theatre at Playhouse Square June 22 - July 2, directed by Sean Derry of none too fragile theatre <https://www.nonetoofragile.com/>. The play will be presented as part of the Truth of Mind Theatre Festival, a mental health advocacy event. This is a professional production; Equity contracts will be considered. *Auditions are being held on Friday, March 10 from 6pm to 10pm and Saturday, March 11 from 4pm to 7pm at The Movement Project, **21547 Lorain Rd. *Cleveland Public Theatre Announces Auditions for STEP 2023! * *CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is a rigorous arts-based program* that provides hands-on job training, engages youth from Cleveland families in a powerful learning experience that develops job skills, academic achievement, and interpersonal skills. - As part of this eight-week summer program, youth ages 14-19 work together to create, produce, perform, and tour their own play. - This program is the longest-running arts-based workplace development program in Cleveland and is an international model for engaging youth. - Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. - Through STEP, teens see themselves as a positive and inspirational force, and watch as their work has an impact on the larger Cleveland community. Ada envisions a whole new world where art and information converge—a world she might not live to see. A music-laced story of love, friendship, and the edgiest dreams of the future. Jane Austen meets Steve Jobs in this poignant pre-tech romance heralding the computer age. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Monday **10 April 2023.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements. It starts with a group of girls gathered at Dot's cabin for a book club. We get a hilarious and realistic view into the special relationships of girlfriends as they share life problems, relations woos, secrets, and if they actually read the book! One by one, circumstances lead the ladies to invite their husbands, boyfriends, etc. to the cabin. But there is only one problem...Dot is REALLY looking forward to girl time (no boys allowed). So, the women try to keep the men hidden so as to not upset their friend. It is a farce, so naturally, the wheels fall off a bit in Act II, and the best laid plans don't work out so well. To find out how our heroines get on and whether or not Dot actually discovers the men, you will have to come see it! At the end of the day, we are witnessing women balancing the relationships they have with their partners and with their closest friends. I am sure we can all relate to that! BEREA, OH – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University presents fyoo zh en ’23: Sumagsisa, Beautiful Flower, directed by Sara Whale and choreographed by Leslie Bell, Max Laskar, and Sara Whale. Choreographers use movement to explore and illustrate Dr. Karen Barahona's research on the indigenous women from the Chilcatotora community in Ecuador and their ingenuity and drive to create opportunities for themselves and their families, while honoring and preserving Mother Earth. There will be a Q & A directly following Friday evening's performance, Feb 24.
