Character Breakdown: Wanda - Mezzo-Soprano Pattie - Mezzo-Soprano Alison - Alto Laura - Soprano Jasmine - Mezzo-Soprano Gina - Mezzo-Soprano Please prepare the following: * Please prepare no more than 32 bars of a 60s or 70s pop song or an uptempo musical theatre song. * Please bring a list of conflict dates you may have during the rehearsal period Callbacks will be by invitation only Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be Sundays through Wednesdays starting in late March. ALL ROLES AVAILABLE!! The Brecksville Theatre does not pre-cast without prior announcement. Show Information: BEEHIVE celebrates the powerful female voices of the 1960’s with such timeless hits as “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “Be My Baby,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” and “Me and Bobby McGee.” Told from the perspective of six young women who come of age in this enigmatic decade, BEEHIVE takes us from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges we faced as a nation. The Brecksville Theatre will dedicate this piece in honor of the late Kevin Joseph Kelly, who was slated to direct the show. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach and the Akron-Summit County Public Library bring to you The Leaves be Green: Springtime in England as the culminating concert in the Spring 2023 World Tour of Music residency. Cleveland-based early music ensemble, Les Délices, and young artists from Firestone Community Learning Center celebrate springtime with joyous music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Audiences will be transported by the beguiling sounds of ancient instruments – including lute, medieval fiddle, recorder, harp, and more – and enjoy songs and carols in English by William Byrd, Robert Fayrfax, Henry VIII, and others that see gardens in full bloom, birds singing from on high and dancing in the open air. Oberlin College Theater continues performances of *Sideways Stories from Wayside School*, adaptation by John Olive, this weekend, Thursday, March 2 through Sunday, March 5! This is a unique, family-friendly opportunity for all ages so make sure to get your tickets now!!! *PERFORMANCES: KANDER THEATER* March 2, 3, 4 @ 7 PM March 4, 5 @ 1 PM PURCHASE TICKETS HERE <https://www.oberlin.edu/events/theater_lab_series_sideways_stories_from_way…> - $5 general admission, $3 college staff/student/child *SYNOPSIS: * The show centers on a 4th-grade classroom on the thirtieth floor of Wayside School, which the architect "was supposed to build... with thirty classrooms all on one level but he accidentally put them on top of each other" ("He said he was sorry."). When the students defeat their evil teacher by turning her into an apple, the introduction of a new teacher, Mrs. Jewls, begins a whole new chapter of life at Wayside School. Based on the children's book by Louis Sachar, *Sideways Stories from Wayside School *is full of wacky characters (such as sammy, a dead rat who disguises himself as a student to sneak into the classroom, and Mrs. Zarves, the teacher on the nineteenth floor who does not exist) and even wackier stories. The show is directed by Maggie Elsen '23 with management by Caris Gross '23. *TALKBACK/WORKSHOP: * The show is presented with audience members under the age of 12 in mind, though all are welcome. Following the matinee performances on March 4 and 5, the cast and crew will facilitate a short talkback on the themes of the show and the importance of theater education. They will then lead a workshop for young artists engaging with principles of improv and comedy performance, performing scenes from the play alongside the actors. The talkback is open to all but the workshop is recommended for children ages 8-11. Registration is required and spots are limited. There is no additional fee for participation in the post-show workshop outside of purchasing a ticket to the performance itself. Auditions for *Free to be You and Me* by Marlo Thomas and friends, will be Saturday, March 4th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Workshop Players Theatre, 44820 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst. More auditions will be held on Monday, March 6th from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. if needed. Director Justin Bilewicz and music Director Marci Saxon are looking to cast around 10 individuals. George uses all of his forensic skills as a detective and is unable to get any answers. Is he a serial killer, the victim of a paranoid father’s vivid imagination or something else entirely?
