Orrville Community Theater in partnership with KrackPots Comedy Club will be offering a Comedy Workshop for ages 16-18. Students will learn about different kinds of jokes/comedy, writing their own material, improv, using the stage and more! At the end of the workshop, a graduation night includes a night of comedy presented by the student to family & friends! Cost for this workshop will be $40! It is a social and political satire set in a fictional future where a terrible 20-year drought has crippled the city’s water supplies. Water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on all private toilets in an effort to control water consumption. Citizens who try to circumvent the peeing-fee by relieving themselves in the bushes, risk being taken away to “Urinetown”, a mysterious place where many have been sent but no one ever returns... URINETOWN is above all a parody and a comedy. In essence characters are seriously silly or more accurately, earnestly, seriously silly!! Notwithstanding this description, it is imperative to make the character as believable as possible. Classes and intensives with various companies inspired her love of dance, including Verb Ballets, Pilobolus, and the Kent Summer Workshop with Limon Dance Company. She danced with North Pointe Ballet as a trainee and company dancer from 2017 to 2021. Her most recent performances include Cleveland Dance Project’s Season 7, Season 8, and Season 9 Showcases, North Pointe Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty 2021, Ballet in the Park 2022, and the Nutcracker 2022, and What’s Beyond? at Cleveland Public Theater’s Pandemonium 2022. She currently teaches ballet and modern at Jillian Rian’s Dance Studio. Twin Masks Performing Arts Center (TMPAC) located at 9076 Church Street, Suites 2 and 3 in Twinsburg is proud to announce auditions for its upcoming production of ‘Night, Mother on Sunday, March 19 and Monday, March 20; both nights beginning at 7pm. The play is written by Marsha Norman and directed by Marc C. Howard. Performance dates are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm on May 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20. Synopsis: On a seemingly normal evening, we meet Thelma Cates (Mama), an aging mother and widow who lives with her daughter, Jessie. Jessie is the divorced mother of a hoodlum son, who - unsatisfied and depressed - struggles with life as an unemployed epileptic. On this night, Jessie comes into the room asking her mother about the whereabouts of her father’s old revolver. When Jessie finds it in the attic, she confesses to her mother that she is going to kill herself. Tonight. At first, Mama laughs it off, thinking Jessie is just making a sick joke. But, as Jessie makes her way around the house, organizing, making lists, and teaching Mama her responsibilities, it soon becomes clear that it is not. As Mama pleads for Jessie to reconsider her decision, old secrets are revealed and long-ignored feelings rise to the surface. The mother-daughter bond between Jessie and Mama becomes stronger and lovelier than ever, making it possible for Jessie to end her noisy, cluttered existence, and enter a quieter, calmer life with closure and love.
