Known as ‘the first lady of the sliding scale’, she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics, instead she was surrounded by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was. Based upon a true story, the play spins from Florence’s charity recitals and extravagant balls, through to her bizarre recording sessions and ultimate triumph at Carnegie Hall in a hilarious and heart-warming comedy. Adult dancers, join Cleveland Dance Project in a 7 week int/adv contemporary dance series, taught by Emmanuelle Corr. Class kicks off this Monday May 1, 7:30-9pm at Emjaez in Bay Village. The full series is $95, or you can pay per class ($15). Register to save your space at wellnessliving.com/login/cdp (works best on the Wellness Living Achieve app) Class will always have a warm up that will usually consist of stretching and strengthening as well as general movement to get the body moving (inspired by Emmanuelle's barre certification and rehab training) followed by an across the floor and combo. Combo's will vary in style and music but her general choreo explores dynamics of sharp to smooth and everything in between whether it's a sultry R&B, flowy Florence vibe, or heavy beated Reggaeton. *Emmanuelle grew up dancing on Cleveland's west side, traveling to train and compete, and received a full year scholarship to West Coast Dance Explosion. She moved to New York City to pursue dance and academics. While attending Fordham University, she trained at Alvin Ailey and Broadway Dance Center, eventually entering BDC's professional program. Emmanuelle co-founded Moxie: Performing Artists (a dance troupe designed to raise funds for local charities), performed with Expressions Dance Alliance, off-Broadway theater productions, including dance captain for Footloose, choreographed for collegiate productions of Rocky Horror Picture Show and Jesus Christ Superstar. Upon returning to Cleveland, she began teaching for local studios, directing and choreographing for competition teams. Emmanuelle joined CDP in their fourth season, was honored to choreograph in the fifth, tenth and eleventh seasons, and was a CDP Company member for two years. Hello all, The Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) is looking for talented youth performers for the roles of Mr. Krabs and Plankton for their summer production of *The SpongeBob Musical*. Both roles are written using he/him/his pronouns, however all ethnicities and gender identities will be equally considered for the roles. Eugene Krabs (Range: B2-Bb4) Owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant; loves money and maybe his daughter Pearl. Sheldon J. Plankton (Range: B2-G#4) Owner of the Chum Bucket and the archenemy of Mr. Krabs; Sheldon is a tiny evil genius who has a plan to take over Bikini Bottom. The Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute helps young people improve their performing arts skills through a challenging curriculum of drama, dance, and vocals. Along with their growing arts skills, HBTI students gain confidence and socialization skills. This program is age, skill and preference based. All Performing Arts Students will take the basic theatre technique classes of acting, voice and ballet. Also students will elect a program either; Acting, Musical Theatre or Dance and take additional classes in their focus. Beck Center for the Arts seeks a talented and engaging arts education instructor(s) to join our theater education faculty. In this role, the instructor will lead theater education classes while promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and implementing effective and developmentally appropriate classroom experiences; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping students informed as to the plan for the course and the activities taking place at Beck Center for the Arts. The instructor will be an entry point to first time students, while serving as an advocate for Beck Center to our students and the community. Reporting to the Associate Director of Theater Education, the arts educator will: • possess the ability to engage students of various age ranges in arts education programs while assisting students in expressing themselves through the theater arts. • be responsible, reliable, and professional. And have the ability to work independently. • have the ability to fulfill all the responsibilities and duties of a classroom teacher, keeping records/tracking attendance and ability to manage a classroom or studio environment. • possess ability to work with a diverse team, including other arts professionals and arts administrators. • Teach any or all of the following classes/camps: *Acting Instructor Junior Theater Camp (Ages 7-12) Our Junior Theater Camp is designed for all students, whether or not they have prior performance experience. Campers are broken into smaller groups based on age and work with theater professionals, learning about acting, singing, and dancing while rehearsing their own original show. Campers present this show - featuring acting scenes and musical numbers - live for family and friends. Session 1 June 12-June 30 No camp June 19. Session 2 July 24-August 11 12:30-2:30 PM* 9:30-11:30 AM* Performances June 29 & 30 Performances August 10 & 11 *Camp Assistant Improv Camp: (Ages 13-19) Mon-Fri; 5:30-8:30 PM; 6/12-6/23 Headed by a founding member of "Something Dada,” Russ Stich, this camp is great for both new students of improv as well as veteran performers. Students explore the basic concepts of improvisational theater with an emphasis on the theatrical, and audience interaction aspects. This two-week workshop focuses on creating a completely improvised performance based on suggestions from a live audience. It's a guaranteed comedy blast! Live performances will take place June 23 & 24 at 7:30 PM. No camp June 19. Acting Camp: (Ages 13-19) Mon-Fri; 1:00-5:00 PM; 7/3-7/21 This fun and lively theater camp, headed by Russ Stich, is for students interested in developing their performance skills. Focusing primarily on the comedic, students sharpen their stage abilities while rehearsing together as an ensemble to create a production that is sure to entertain. Come join us and laugh as you learn! Live in-person performances are July 21 & 22 at 7:30 PM. No camp July 4. Requirements include: • Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities and teach concepts for specific courses taught. • A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in the art form is preferred. • Bachelor or Master’s degree preferred. Individual’s working toward their degree in theater education may be considered. • Experience Requirement: Extensive knowledge of art form and previous teaching experience (3-5 years) preferred. • Employees must pass a background check.
