Registration is open for the School of Dancing Wheels Winter 2025 Session of classes. The 12-week Winter 2025 Session runs from January 6 through March 29, 2025. Our inclusive dance classes at the School of Dancing Wheels include Ballet, Contemporary, Capoeira, Conditioning, Jazz Funk, Hip-Hop, Open DW Community Class, Youth Combo Class, Wheelchair Technique, and Performance Ensemble. Classes are adapted to students of all abilities! At our fully accessible studios in Midtown Cleveland, the School of Dancing Wheels is a multi-arts school that offers classes throughout the week from September through June for individuals of all abilities, ages 3 to adult. Experts in a Dying Field, a new play by Jonathon Morgan and produced by Mindy Herman for Cleveland PUBLIC Theater’s 2025 Test Flight series, is holding auditions on December 30. About the play: Experts in a Dying Field is about making friends, being fungi, and being fun guys. It’s interactive, a little weird, and ends with a sing-a-long of Queen’s 1978 immortal classic, Fat Bottomed Girls. It will be a productive use of your time. It’s like your favorite Liz Phair song on repeat, or a Tom Waits poem, or the recaps Dennis Manoloff does for Cleveland Magazine after Browns games. It’s like a Nan Goldin photo, being lost in thought, staring out the window while you’re riding the Red Line, or the best sweater you ever found at Unique Thrift before it closed. Remember when you fell in love drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes all night at My Friends? Me too. It’s like that. We are looking to cast 3-4 non-AEA actors of any age and gender. Date: December 30, 2024 Time: Anytime between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM Location: Brownhoist Building, 4403 St Clair Ave, Cleveland Requirements: Auditions will consist of readings from the script Production Team: Jonathon Morgan is a director and playwright who produced new theater in Liverpool, London, New York, and Austin before coming home to Cleveland in 2023, where he is a co-producer of Micro Theater. Mindy Herman is director of Cleveland Public Theater's Dark Room, a co-producer of Micro Theater, and has been making theater in Cleveland as a producer, director, performer, and stage manager for the past 25 years. MAD Vista Productions Casting Call Three (3) roles: Ms. Ho, older (50+), Asian woman. Unassuming, but with a devilish smile. Adam (The Husband), Male, 40+. Adam is pragmatic, somewhat outdoorsy. Mary (The Wife), Female, 30+. Mary has barely learned to manage her control-freak tendencies. This shoot will take place in a camping tent (close quarters). No nudity or physical contact. Hello Friends of Silver Lining Players! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you! A special thank you to those of you who joined us for Makeshift Theater's special event at Greystone Hall on the 14th. It was a very successful event with an attendance that exceeded expectations. 2025 looks to be a big year for Silver Lining Players with a number of productions in the works. The first is coming up fast. On January 18th we'll be lending a hand to Summit Metroparks for their program "Poe in the Park" for which they will celebrate Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday, talk about The Raven and a famous Ohioan who was a fan of Poe’s, and present readings of some of Poe’s most famous works performed by members of Silver Lining Players. This program is free to the public and will be presented in the auditorium of the Seiberling Naturealm at 1828 Smith Rd. Akron, OH 44313, at 6:30pm on Saturday, January 18th. Mark your calendar now! On another project, I'm currently working on an original musical based on the songs of Tom Lehrer and am in need of vocalists to prepare some demos in order to submit the musical to various competitions. We've completed the solos and duets and just have a few ensemble songs left to do. The sessions are coming up quickly, January 2 - 4! So the time commitment is very short, just those days and maybe not all three. If you'd be interested in lending your voice to this project, I want to hear from you, so please drop me a note ASAP.
