At first it seems that a verdict of guilty is obvious, but one hold out juror makes all the difference as the jury re-examines, re-enacts and re-thinks their first impressions. The play is about more than guilt or innocence. It is about the 12 people in that room whose perspectives and prejudices reveal themselves. The final verdict and how it is reached will enthrall and electrify audiences. Performance dates are the first three weekends in May, on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm. May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18. DETAILS: BARTENDERS AUDITION INFO: Director: Sean Donovan There are over 1 million bartenders in the United States today. Meet six of them. Louis Mustillo (Mike & Molly, The Sopranos) brings you Bartenders: the ultimate tribute to the men who serve as friend, father, psychotherapist, and ego-booster to our cocktail-drinking nation. Every drink has a story. Characters: Bobby – Bartender for 32 yrs. Knows the trade inside and out. Smart. In command. Tough, but not a jerk. Good guy who doesn’t mess around. Like in the script, he’s giving the new kid a shot. It’s 9:30am, Midtown, upscale establishment. Richard – Good-hearted, sweet guy. If he didn’t bartend, he would be a writer or an artist. He is a bartender though and he’s quite fine with that. Loves New York more than anyone. He’s a good friend. Will do anything for you. Smart with his money but not cheap. He’s a romantic. He does not feel sorry for himself, even when he’s sad. It’s Christmas Eve and he’s tipsy, but not drunk. It’s 3am, 8 th Ave Saloon. Patty – NUTS, FUN, ODD. LOUD. Great bartender. Proud of his standing as a lifer bartender. Likes to get stoned, but far from your hippie, stoner type. Finds Joe Friday, hotdogs, broads, and tips all fascinating. It’s after his shift. 3 rd Ave. (Works at Smith & Woliensky Grill, 49th & 3rd Ave, Mon–Thurs, 7pm – 2am.) Benny – Old Time Queens bartender. Works at a corner saloon since 1977. Before that, another corner saloon. Twice divorced, gambler, drinker. Money problems. All he knows is bartending. 3:45am, Astoria, Queens. Jimmy – One-time high-rolling bar owner. Been in the business all his life. Lost it all to drugs. He’s HIV positive, not on death’s door, but also not a vision of health. He’s a survivor. He wants to live. He has not given up. Eddie – Slight lisp. Lazy tongue they call it. Looks like Hoss Cartwright. Uses his arms and hands as punctuation. He’s fun. He’s honest. He is classic. Keith Stiver. This is a one act comedy with an all-female cast. Auditions will be held on the afternoon of March 3, at the theatre, from 1:00 to 3:00. Readings will be taken from the script. If needed, additional dates will be announced. The play will run simultaneously with The Bartenders, the first three weekends of May 2024. The script describes the play (in part) as follows: Six of the most noted of Shakespeare’s heroines convene at the home of Juliet in Verona. They are, in addition to Juliet, Portia from The Merchant of Venice, Katharine from The Taming of the Shrew, Desdemona from Othello, Ophelia from Hamlet, and Cleopatra from Antony and Cleopatra. Juliet has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other five visit to instruct her in the art of successfully carrying out her romance. The characters: Juliet – aged between 18 and 25. Optimistic, but practical. She is also dubious about the advise she is receiving. Portia – aged 30+. Very “legal” in demeanor. Desdemona – aged 25 - 30. Young and starry-eyed from being “smothered with affection”. Cleopatra – aged 30 - 35. Very much a siren. Ophelia – aged 30+. Mad and dithery. Katharine – aged 40+. Strong and “shrewish”. The director is seeking as diverse a cast as possible. All ethnicities and physical types are encouraged to audition. Hello, As a past Homeless Stand Down Entertainer (or a new friend!) we are reaching out hoping you will take part in this worthwhile event. The Homeless Stand Down, providing services and a day of respite for the homeless veterans of Northeast Ohio, will be on: Saturday, April 20 from 10-2:00 at Cleveland Public Auditorium Here is a link to learn more: 2024 HSD - Guest Flyer (bvuvolunteers.org) <https://bvuvolunteers.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2024-HSD-Guest-Flyer-1…> We’re excited to be at Public Hall once again where there will be plenty of room for Meals, the Barber and Clothing Shops, Medical Services and more(!) and this is where, hopefully, you come in! MOBILE PERFORMERS: Everyone will enter through the main lobby and be waiting in line to enter the hall. Single or small group entertainment that is not overwhelming in sound or visuals would be welcome and set a nice tone for the day. Guests inside the Auditorium may be in line or at tables awaiting various services, resting or enjoying a meal. Your being able to read the crowd and move where needed will be appreciated. STATIONARY PERFORMERS: The floor of the hall will be used for resource agencies needing to converse with guests and for the other services mentioned above. The goal here is to provide an uplifting interval to our guests’ day while they reconnect and enjoy a time of respite. Musical performers and visual acts (jugglers, dancers) in need of a set space and with a moderate volume level will be given space on the main floor, next to the Auditorium Stage. Your performance would be out of the goodness of your heart, as I have no budget, however we expect around 1,000 guests and perhaps as many volunteers so while this is a charity event, it would give your group exposure to a wide audience of possible future clients. Scheduling now for: 1 hour slots Venue- Cleveland Public Auditorium, Main Lobby and/or Main Hall Sound, etc.- Bring own sound system and electrical extension cords; only electrical outlets available Parking- Volunteers will help you unload before parking. Rabbit Run Theater Auditions: “Tuesdays with Morrie”, Mar. 1, 7 – 9:30 pm; Mar. 3, 1 – 2:30 pm “Clue: On Stage”, Mar. 1, 7 – 9:30 pm; Mar. 3, 5:30 – 7 pm MADISON, OH – Auditions for Rabbit Run Theater’s productions of “Tuesdays with Morrie” and “Clue: On Stage” are this weekend. “Tuesdays with Morrie”, is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, a journalist, and his former college professor, Morrie Swartz. Years after graduation and upon learning that Morrie has Lou Gehrig’s disease, Mitch is reunited with his old college profession. What starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. “Tuesday with Morrie” is written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom and based on the book by Mitch Albom. Directed by Ann Hedger, the show runs from June 14 through June 28. There are two roles available for men, ages mid-30’s through mid-60’s. Auditions for “Tuesdays with Morrie” are Friday, Mar. 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. “Clue: on Stage”, is based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn and is written by Sandy Rustin with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price. It is also based on the Paramount Motion Picture and the Hasbro board game, CLUE. “Clue: On Stage” opens Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 24 and is rated for general audiences. This production is directed by Bob Kilpatrick. There are multiple female and male roles available for ages 18 and up, and it is rated for general audiences. Auditions for “Clue: On Stage” are Friday, Mar. 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Actors auditioning for a non-musical do not need to prepare a monologue as actors will read sides from the script. Actors should dress business casual (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants). All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St., Madison, OH. Auditions are by appointment only.
