Join us at Independence Community Theater this weekend for Tom Smith's Drinking Habits, directed by Richard Todd. Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancées, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves. Performances are March 1,2,8,9,16,17 at 7:30pm and March 10th at 2:00pm. A Hilarious Musical Comedy featuring some of the most unforgettable songs of the 70's such as: "Knock on Wood", "Hooked on a Feeling", "Sky High", "I am Woman" and "Hot Stuff" are just a few of the scintillating hits with a book by three-time Emmy award nominee and Sirius Broadway Host, Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick. It's 1979, and New York's hottest A-Listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of boogie fever, quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves, and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they've lost... or at least escape the killer rats. CASTING All Ethnicities. *Funny Girl*, now at Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace, celebrates vaudeville star Fanny Brice’s rise to fame via the Ziegfeld Follies in the early 1900s. If you have seen the Barbara Streisand film version, you already know the plot and probably have favorite songs. **** *Bottom Line: Not to rain on any parade, diehard fans will enjoy the show. The plot is simple. Fanny Brice wants to be a star. She makes it. Her personal life is not very happy. I know I said that the previous announcement for this class would be the last notice (sorry about that), but the start date has been pushed back one week. I’m posting again in case this opens up a possibility for someone to attend. Please note the new run dates. Thanks. — Spring, 2024 Voice Acting Fundamentals! This class will consist of six, 2-hour sessions on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4pm beginning MARCH 9TH and ending APRIL 20TH (we'll take Easter Weekend off). We'll meet at Colors Audio in Akron. What will you learn? Sanford Meisner said that "Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances." (Great quote.) But here's the typical v/o audition scenario: The client has given you a snippet of a script, exactly two (contradictory) words of direction, no circumstances, and a strong temptation to behave "untruthfully." How do we not only perform that script, but OWN it? I'll show you how to do that. If everything goes wrong in the Cleveland Play House’s current show, that means everything is going right! *The Play That Goes Wrong*, now at Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre, shows farce at its best. Currently casting for a satirical comedy CSU thesis short film Roles: Rene: The Lead (22-30) (M or F) Don: Supporting (25-30) (M) Hammy: Supporting (22-30) (M or F) Filming dates are set for March 22-24th and 29-31st in Cleveland OH. Rene is the one character needed for all 6 days. The project is titled "fArt." It is a short comedy film that explores what it means to be an artist. This is an unpaid, non-union student set, but will provide meals and copy of the film. If anybody is interested in auditioning, please send over your headshot and state which character you would like to audition for to the email below.
