Traumatic Players of Cleveland have 3 opportunities this week where we need volunteers to play victims of multiple mass casualty events. These trainings are for emergency agency personnel to practice first aid skills. This is a volunteer opportunity and you will receive a $10 gift card as a small token of appreciation for helping these groups hone these life saving skills. Volunteers must wear clothing that can be ripped, torn and bloodied. Moulage will be applied and specific roles will be given on the event days. The locations and times for each training are as follows: (Specific locations are given once participation is confirmed.) Thursday, March 14th from 11AM to 4PM near University Heights, OH. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Friday 22 March 2024.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. *Musical Director/Vocal Arranger/Keyboardist* *Overview: *Looking for a Musical Director/Vocal Arranger/Keyboardist for a Motown-based band that performs Classic R&B/Soul and Pop classics of the 60s, 70s, and 80s by artist such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Jackson Five, Chaka Khan & Rufus, Whitney Houston, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and many more. Performances are one to two times per month at the minimum between June – September 2024. Performances are outdoors as well as indoors. The band consists of the lead singer, rhythm section, wind and brass instruments, and background singers. Members on stage can be as many as 12-16 members per performance. The Band Leader/Lead Singer makes the songs selections, provides the sheet music/lead sheets, schedules rehearsals and performances, manages the band and its members, and is present for all rehearsals and performances. A Musical Director is needed to facilitate the rehearsals with the background singers by providing expertise in working with singers and vocal arrangements. Lastly, the MD will assist the Band Leader by directing the transitions of songs during rehearsals and live performances. *Job Description (Part-Time/Seasonal Position) .*The Musical Director is an accomplished musician and leads the background singers and band. The Musical Director is to ensure the background singers rehearse and have the proper vocal arrangements prepared for performances as their knowledge, skills, and expertise will be an asset in assisting the background singers through the process. The background singers will rehearse once a week starting in April 2024 and will be dependent on all members availability. The full band rehearsals will start in late June 2024; there is scheduled to be a minimum of 2 full band rehearsals, which will also depend on all members availability. Lastly, the Musical Director is needed to ensure that for live performances the tempos are set correctly, the endings and transitions of each song are rehearsed and executed. Doing so, the MD will direct the stops, starts and transitions between songs. *Qualifications/Requirements: * § Must have reliable transportation to and from rehearsal and performances. § Ability to play piano/keyboard with experience in musical styles such as but not limited to: Jazz, Pop, R&B, Gospel. § Proficient in reading sheet music and learning new songs in a timely fashion. § Experience in live performances. § Ability to work well under pressure. § Flexibility to adapt to different performance styles and genres. § Facilitate the background singer rehearsals and vocal warmups at the start of the rehearsals. § Arrange the vocal parts for the background singers; singers may consist of male and female vocalist with various vocal ranges. § Great interpersonal, and communication skills § Ability to give clear instructions and make decisions under pressure. § Willingness to collaborate with the band leader. The miser of the title is the elderly Harpagon, who is a wealthy man but worries that he never has enough money. His obsession with money spells disaster for all those around him, including his two children, Elise and Cléante. Elise is passionately in love with the penniless Valère, but her father has arranged for her to marry a wealthy old man, Anselme. Meanwhile Cléante loves the girl next door, the young, impoverished Marianne. In a further twist, Harpagon has set his sights on marrying Marianne himself! With the help of some wily servants, Elise and Cléante plot against their frugal father.* Directed by: Daniel Hunsicker Audition Dates: Sunday March 24th, 2024 – 2pm-4pm Monday March 25th, 2024 – 7pm-9pm Callbacks: Only as needed. He builds his wealth by lending at a usurious rate while pinching every penny at home, refusing to replace the worn-out clothes of the servants he abuses. He is the suitor of the young Mariane, whom Cléante also wishes to marry Cleante – Harpagon’s profligate son, Cléante is also in love with Mariane. Intending to run away with her, he attempts to procure an illegal loan to provide Mariane and her ill mother with money, only to discover the lender is his own father. There is mutual resentment between the two over not only money but over love when Harpagon tricks his son into revealing his love for Mariane. Elise – The daughter of Harpagon, Élise owes her life to Valère, who saved her from drowning just before the beginning of the play. She opposes her father’s plans to wed her to the elderly Anselme, who has agreed to take her without a dowry. Valere – Valère has saved Élise from drowning and has come into the employ of Harpagon with intentions to win her. Harpagon mistrusts him and suspects him of wanting to rob him. Marianne – The young woman whom Harpagon intends to wed is also the woman his son Cléante intends to run away with. Frosine – Frosine is an elderly woman who acts as a go-between to ensure the marriage of Harpagon and Mariane; she convinces Harpagon that Mariane’s frugality will outweigh her lack of dowry, and that Mariane loves bespectacled old men. Master Jaques – Master Jacques is cook and coachman to Harpagon. La Fleche – A servant in Harpagon’s household, La Flèche helps Cléante arrange a clandestine loan through Master Simon.[8] In a dramatic turn he digs up and steals Harpagon’s cash box. Anselme – An older gentleman and suitor to Élise, Anselme is a wandering Napolitan noble who believes his wife and children drowned sixteen years earlier. Role may be doubled with others. Brindavoine – Lackey to Harpagon. Role may be doubled with others. La Merluche – Lackey to Harpagon. Role may be doubled with others. Clerk – The recorder for the magistrate.
