Cleveland Play House is looking for actors for the 2024-25 season! The season will include Pride and Prejudice, by Kate Hamill; What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck; A Christmas Story, by Philip Grecian; Fat Ham, by James Ijames; King James, by Rajiv Joseph; Fiddler on the Roof, Music by Jerry Bock, Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, Book by Joseph Stein. Local general auditions for the season will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Local auditions for child actors for What the Constitution Means to Me, A Christmas Story, and Fiddler on the Roof will be held at a later date. cleveland PUBLIC theatre Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy Announces FREE, In-Person Programming this Summer *SESSION ONE: June 10 – June 28, 2024 for JUNIORS (7 - 10-year-olds)* *SESSION TWO: July 8 – August 2, 2024 for SENIORS (11 - 14-year-olds)* Join us for *Why the Summer Comes and Goes, *a 3-week (Juniors) or 4-week (Seniors) intensive summer arts program for young artists that is rewarding and fun. Under the guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, youth will be introduced to folktales shared across different cultures, and together, we will create an original folktale of our own, performed as a collaborative, theatrical piece. Youth will explore storytelling through creative writing, improvisation, character development, dance, visual arts, and more! Enrollment is determined on a first-come, first-served basis and requires submitting an application to the program. *Families must submit an application by May 24th.* Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and families will be notified of enrollment by May 31st. Enrollment is capped at 16 young artists per session. This program is offered at NO COST, thanks to the support of the Cleveland Foundation and other generous supporters. Director Application for GMP Now Open

The Gates Mills Players are now accepting applications for Directors for the 2024-2025 season! The submission deadline is May 4, 2024. There is a small ($500) stipend associated with this role. To apply, please submit the following information to Shannon(a)GatesMillsPlayers.com for consideration: 1) A copy of your theatre resume or the equivalent information written out in the email. For example, your previous experience, prior shows you’ve directed, any formal or informal training, etc. 2) Indicate which show slot (or both) that you are available to direct. a. The 2024-2025 season is two shows i. Fall show dates: November 1,2, 3, 8, 9. Rehearsals are scheduled to start Monday, August 26th and run each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7pm-9pm. There are some set conflicts that will be discussed. There is some availability Sundays or Wednesday to flex some days. ii. Spring show dates: March 14, 15, 16, 21, 22. Rehearsals are scheduled to start Monday, January 6th. Same schedule as above. 3) One or two shows you would be interested in directing. If you do not have any in mind, please request our list of GMP Board pre-approved shows to choose from. a. Criteria: i. No more than 10-12 actors – our stage, backstage, and green room cannot accommodate too many people ii. We lean toward comedy, farce, or mystery shows. We are open to one-act compilations, classics, radio shows, or other creative projects. iii. We cannot do musicals – too many people needed, too expensive, no place for the pit, etc. iv. The stage has no fly and limited wing space. Single set designs work best. The alternative is a stylized set with smaller, modular moving parts. Please have an idea of the set design. You will then work with a designer to finalize the vision. 4) Acknowledge your commitment to directing at GMP. The GMP is a true community theater where the community of Players help facilitate the best quality production. As part of that community, we expect certain behaviors and commitments. Directors are expected to cast the show (using Players where possible); pre-schedule rehearsals within the available days of the Community House; attend all rehearsals, set build days, and strike; use rehearsals to mold, shape, craft your vision of the show; and throughout the process, work collaboratively and respectfully with the production team (actors, stage managers, designers, crew, FOH, etc.). Kent State Trumbull Theatre is announcing its call for submissions for our 2024/2025 season of Sips & Scripts. Do you have an unproduced full-length play or musical that could use a public reading? Then consider submitting it! Chosen scripts will receive a public reading at the Darlene Lounge in downtown Warren, Ohio. It's a great way to hear your work out loud and find out what lands with an audience in a low-pressure environment. Plays should be full length (roughly 45 minutes or more minimum) and have not received a production. Scripts should be complete at time of submission and in manuscript format. Musicals should consist of a full libretto and score with vocal parts clearly indicated. Recordings may be requests to assist rehearsals in the case of musicals. Submission deadline is 6/1/24. Measure examines sexual politics through a particularly gendered lens, and asks: when faced with corruption of power, how do we fix broken systems?
