*Audition Notice for Gates Mills Players’ radio play production of “The Birds”* Based on the acclaimed classic film *The Birds*, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, this production will be performed in July at Gates Mills Players in the style of a 1940s radio play. Actors will be seated on stage and sound effects will be produced live during the show using props! The show will also feature “advertisements” for 1940s products and services, read by two of the actors. *AUDITIONS* will be held at 1460 Chagrin River Road in Gates Mills from 6:00-8:00PM on April 28th (Gates Mills Players or by request only) and April 30th (general public invited). If necessary, callbacks will be held *by invitation only* from 6:00-8:00PM on May 1st. No appointments are required for auditions unless you wish to attend on April 28th. Please arrive at 6PM on your audition day prepared to read selections from the script. Bring a list of conflicts between July 1st and July 26th as well as headshot and resume, if you have one. *PERFORMANCES* are scheduled for July 25th and 26th at 7:30PM. *REHEARSALS* will be held during the 2-3 weeks leading up to the performances, typically during weekday nights. Seeking poetry submissions for the 40 Over 40 Poetry Anthology, open to poets over the age of 40 in Northeast Ohio or with a connection to the area. *Submission Deadline: April 30* Generously funded by an ArtsForward grant, all poets accepted for this project will receive a $40 honorarium, copy of the final printed anthology, and an invitation to read at the book launch celebration at Akron Main Library on August 17. Seeking Play Submissions

Talespinner Children's Theatre is re-launching our PLAYGround Series, this time with a twist! We’re excited to be partnering with BorderLight Festival, this year with a series of 10-15 minute plays, with the goal that one (or more!) of these pieces will be invited to develop into a full-length production in a future TCT season. Here’s how it works: 1. Submit a draft of your 10 minute play, or 10 minute excerpt/scene by the end of the day May 1st. 1. This play may focus on an audience of children ages 0-5, or for children ages 5-12. 2. Ideally, the focus of the play would fit into one of the following themes we’re exploring for future seasons: 1. Historical figures, historical events 2. Imagination and fantasy 3. Child protagonists/child heroes 3. At this time, we are *not* accepting materials based on stories that are outside of the public domain -- if you are interested in adapting materials that are currently not publicly available, please contact Heather at heather(a)talespinnercle.org for more information. 2. Three to five plays will be chosen in the first week of May, and all submitting playwrights will be contacted by May 7th to communicate whether their piece has been selected. 3. Selected pieces will be brought to life at the BorderLight Festival with some props, costumes, and simple scenery. 4. During the PLAYGround performance, audiences will be invited to provide feedback on each piece, with special attention given to responses from children under the age of 16. This feedback will inform which play or plays are given the opportunity for further development, and a full production included in a future season.
