At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. As leader of his own acting troupe, George has always had aspirations to be famous. He’s a bit of a ladies man but really is devoted to his wife, Charlotte. The actor must be able to do strong physical comedy, which could include pratfalls, running, stage slaps, stage combat, etc. Charlotte Hay: (40’s-60’s) is very much a drama queen. She helps to run the acting troupe and plays all the leads even the ones she’s a bit old for. She is a consummate actress who still has dreams of being a star–at all costs! She loves George but is getting tired of his philandering. She has to be able to do an upper-class British accent. Some physical comedy required. Ethel: (60’s+) is Charlotte’s mother–close to her daughter, but not happy with her daughter’s choice of a husband. She is also an actress–very witty, and doesn’t take any crap from anyone! She is very hard of hearing, which leads to comic misunderstandings. Rosalind Hay: (20’s-30's) George and Charlotte’s daughter, used to be an actress and a member of their acting troupe, but she decided that she wanted a real career, so she left–determined never to act again–or be like her parents! Rosalind is, in fact, always repressing her dramatic side, but it’s a losing battle by the end. She has a new fiancé, Howard, but she used to be in love with an actor in her parent’s troupe, Paul. The actress has to also be able to do an upper-class British accent. Howard: (20’s-30’s) is Rosalind’s fiancé–a weatherman–so he considers himself to be in the “acting” business. He comes across as a wimp, a little annoying, nervous, and very excitable. The actor must be able to do strong physical comedy. Eileen: (20’s-30's) is an aspiring actress, eager to please. She has a crush on George and has been having a fling with him. Eileen wants to be a leading actress with the company, and she comes across very flighty and naïve, but ultimately will do anything to get what she wants. She can be played as a bit manipulative. Paul: (20’s-30’s) is a member of the acting troupe, who used to be with Rosalind and still loves her and wants her back; but he is an actor first and foremost, so he wouldn’t leave the troupe to be with her. Paul has a quiet, subtle sense of humor and often holds the company together. The actor must be able to do an upper-class British accent and must be able to do strong physical comedy. Richard: (40's-60’s) He is George and Charlotte’s attorney, but he is in love with Charlotte–always trying to get her to leave George. He is wealthy and used to getting what he wants, and he is both amused and perplexed by the Hay family. Summer Drama Therapy Groups & Workshops

Hi everyone, I have two upcoming drama therapy events this summer in case anyone is looking for some outlets. One is a one-off 90 minute stress relief workshop July 12th using drama therapy, and the other is a six week closed group series for creativity and impasse. I’m hoping for at least four participants for each to happen. The drama therapy method to be used is Developmental Transformations. Here are the group descriptions: Embodied Stress Relief Workshop, July 12, 2025 1:30pm-3:00pm This introductory to embodied drama therapy workshop is designed to provide a space for those looking for an embodied, playful approach to themselves and relationship. Focus of this 1.5 hour group will be on a developmental process for participants to connect with themselves and connect with others to ease stress outside of the group space. This group is a single offering, and does not require long term commitment. Cost of the workshop is $40 per participant. Pre-registration is required to participate. Creativity and Impasse Closed Group Series, July 19, 2025- August 30, 2025 (with one week off on August 9), 1:30-2:30pm Do you have a creative project that is stuck in an in between place? Join me for an ongoing workshop series on the creative process and impasse. This will be a weekly closed workshop starting sometime midsummer held either Saturday afternoons or Thursday nights. This series is designed to help creatives get in touch with themselves, their creative self, and others to unlock stuck places and help them get into motion. This workshop series will utilize creative arts therapies, including embodied drama therapy, writing, and visual arts. You do not have to be a “professional artist” in any medium to participate. 6 weeks $180 total, $30 per week, can be paid weekly or in full prior to start of series. Sammy DeLeon y su Orquestra Friday, June 27, 2025 6:30 pm John Streeter Garden Amphitheater, 2122 Williams Road, Wooster, OH 44691 Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Friends of the Secrest Arboretum continue their free summer Music at the Arboretum concert series on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 6:30 pm with Sammy DeLeon y su Orquestra. Sammy de León is one of the most recognized Latin bandleaders in Northern Ohio. He plays the timbales, a twin set of metal-encased, single-headed drums with a cowbell and a cymbal on the side. He began to play professionally at age 13 and has since played alongside the greatest of the genre: Tito Puente and Grán Combo de Puerto Rico, among others. For the past decade, he has fronted his own band, Sammy De León y Su Orquesta, which includes well known pianist Jackie Warren and multiple horn players and singers. Playing a broad spectrum of Latin dance music styles, they have gained a large multi-cultural audience. In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Secrest Welcome & Education Center. It will be cold readings from script. The story: After a local woman is murdered, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective, arriving on skis, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. When a second murder takes place, tensions and fears escalate. This record-breaking murder mystery features a brilliant surprise finish from Dame Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time. Characters: MOLLIE RALSTON – A newlywed who has inherited Monkswell Manor and has opened it as a guesthouse with her husband. A hospitable and warm, if slightlynaive, hostess and cook. GILES RALSTON – The more cautious proprietor of Monkswell Manor. Supportive of his wife, but less thrilled to run a guesthouse. A traditional gentleman who’s quick to judge his guests. CHRISTOPHER WREN – A young architect with a flamboyant and often inappropriate sense of humor. His energetic conversation can appear both lighthearted and sinister. MRS. BOYLE – A retiree whose acerbic tone makes her a challenging guest. Strong-willed and uncompromising, with high expectations. Pleased only when expressing disappointment. MAJOR METCALF – An affable guest who is willing to help his hosts cope with the consequences of the snowstorm. Retired from the army, steady and calm in the face of conflict. MISS CASEWELL – A modern and somewhat aloof young woman travelling on business. Unwilling to discuss private matters and disinterested in the opinion of her fellow guests. MR. PARAVICINI – A roguish gentleman who is not forthcoming about his reasons for being there. Delights in the guests’ uncertainty and pays particular attention to his hostess, Mollie. DETECTIVE SGT. TROTTER – The young detective assigned to reach Monkswell Manor and report on the situation as it unfolds.
