Whether you are a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the dance floor for the first time, we celebrate artistic expression in all forms. Auditions for LONG AFTER CRYSTAL NIGHT Written by John Herman Shaner Directed by Carol Jaffee Pribble Chagrin Valley Little Theatre Monday and Tuesday, March 30 and 31 at 7:00 PM Set in a Beverly Hills Jewish household in 1983, this compelling drama plunges a family into an emotionally charged weekend when their patriarch attends a community meeting in which members of the Jewish Defense League are requesting an opportunity to speak at his B’nai Brith lodge where they plan to encourage members to stage a protest at a Nazi rally scheduled to occur in their community. With both humor and emotion, LONG AFTER CRYSTAL NIGHT challenges its characters to question the depth of their convictions and their personal courage in the face of difficult choices. This thought provoking play is a timely and timeless exploration of identity, courage, and the enduring human spirit. Characters confront faded dreams, lost youth, and unhappy marriages through a dazzling array of old musical styles and haunting encounters with their younger selves, exploring themes of nostalgia, illusion versus reality, and the poignant passage of time.Please prepare a 16-32 bar song demonstrating your strongest voice qualities and range. Memorization is not required, but helps. Please provide legible music for the accompanist.NO SONDHEIM SELECTIONS PREFERED.The vocal audition will be followed by reading from the script and a movement exercise.Follies is truly an ensemble show. It is full of featured vocal solos and standout roles, with a story centered around women returning to the Follies — meaning amazing roles for women of all ages. We are casting for a WW2 indie docudrama, to be filmed this spring/summer in the greater Cleveland 1) Principal (Speaking) Roles: MUST be 18 years+. WW2 US Army pilot: American: Male; 20-32 years old (needs to look early 20's); White / Caucasian or look White / Caucasian; He is avoiding discovery by Nazis after being shot down. Emotionally hefty role. Light Texas/Utah accent. Costuming would be few sets of poor farmhand clothes from the 1940's. 2) Wife of pilot: American; Female; 18-32 years old (needs to look early 20's); White / Caucasian or look White / Caucasian; Wife of pilot who doesn't know his fate for months. Continues working throughout this ordeal. Battling supreme grief, worry with the need to go to work and continue living. Costuming: wedding dress, 2 sets of 1940's everyday outfits 3) Wife of Helper of Pilot and Mother; Female; 35-55 years old; White / Caucasian or look White / Caucasian; Strong, caring woman with good humor. Must show dynamic range and authenticity. Will speak in French (will work with native French speaking coach to learn script and for help with pronunciation/accent/feeling comfortable speaking naturally). Costuming would be few sets of poor farmhand clothes from the 1940's. 4) Adult Son of parents who help pilot; Male; 20-28 years old (needs to look early 20's); White / Caucasian. Adult son who helps his parents help pilot. Funny and caring. Will speak in French (will work with native French speaking coach to learn script and for help with pronunciation/accent/feeling comfortable speaking naturally). Costuming would be few sets of poor farmhand clothes from the 1940's. These are non-paid, non-equity roles. Please contact if interested.
