Dept of Dance at CWRU announces Fall 2020 Performance Spaces and Places

Case Western Reserve University’s performance series, Nouveaux Espaces, kicks off this November with a new work by faculty member Gary Galbraith. Spaces and Places is a video dance project that promises to take us outside the ‘boxes of dancers’ we have all seen in virtual projects since last March. Galbraith, who continues to chart new territories in dance, collaborated with 14 dancers, both undergraduate and graduate, located around the world - Cleveland, Ghana, and China, for a work that is fully outdoors. Placing the Cleveland dancers in small groups at selected sculptures on the CWRU campus, he is using exciting spherical video technology that will allow the viewer to see the movements from different angles. Video of the dancers in Ghana, who are dancing along pathways,and inside groves of trees, along with dancers on blocks of stone along the ocean and in a field in China, will be artfully aligned with the videos taken in Cleveland. This work will premiere in November 2020, and will be made available on the CWRU Department of Dance YouTube Channel <https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrHSOF-J0QLpse-RiPjcPcQ>. Update on Radio on The Lake Theatre’s performance of The Birds

Due to an uncertain weather forecast, and out of an abundance of caution for the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases, Radio on the Lake Theatre’s presentation of the radio play version of The Birds has been moved online. The performance will now take place via Zoom on Friday, October 30 at 7 pm. Adapted from the Daphne DuMaurier short story, that served as the source material for the iconic Hitchcock film, this performance will feature one of the radio play genre’s richest sound designs, brought to life to ROTLT’s Artistic Director John Watts. The cast consists of Brian Pedaci, Casey Venema, Stuart Hoffman and Sara Dina. Pop Band Looking for Talented Female Singer

Mentor based jazzy-pop band is looking for an appealing, theatrically oriented female to front the band. Age range should be between 18 and 35. The musical style is similar to late-80s british pop/rock (Swing Out Sister, Sade, Everything But The Girl). Practices are (Thursdays 6pm to 8pm) and (Saturdays 1pm to 4pm.) This is a long-term project with both recording and gigging planned, so please keep that in mind; this more than simply practicing to play out on the weekends.
