Lorain Community Music Theater is holding auditions for their summer show MAMMA MIA! on Sat. March 14, 2020 from 1:00-4:00pm, Sun. March 15, 2020 from 2:00pm-5:00pm and March 21, 2020 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Auditions are held at St. Peter School, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain 44053 in the school GYM. Those auditioning will be asked to sing a 32bar cut in a vocal selection that reflects the style of the show. Bring your sheet music in the proper key. Auditions will not be permitted with any electronic accompaniment nor in acapella format. Dress for movement as a dance sequence will be taught. All roles are open and we are in search of a multi generational cast of performers, ages 16 and up. Ask Your Representatives to Sign NEA Funding Letter

The Congressional Arts Caucus and Senate Cultural Caucus are in the process of collecting signatures of members of Congress who are supportive of funding the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) at $170 million in the fiscal year (FY) 2021. Please take two minutes to request that your U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators sign onto the letter. These "Dear Colleague" letters mean congressional appropriators have started the cycle for the FY 2021 appropriations process. In each of the FY 2018, FY 2019, and FY 2020 cycles, the Trump administration sought to eliminate the NEA; however, Congress strongly rejected that proposal on a bipartisan basis each year, and actually increased NEA funding every year. In fact, FY 2020 saw the largest increase in funding for the NEA in six years and the highest level of funding for the Endowment in a decade! This increase can be attributed, in part, to the tremendous grassroots advocacy of arts advocates last year. This year, Americans for the Arts and our arts colleagues are urging Congress to fund the NEA and the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) at a level of $170 million for FY 2021. Currently, Congressional Arts Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) are leading the NEA funding request letter in the U.S. House, and Senate Cultural Caucus Co-Chair Sen. Please VOTE https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/absentee-voting-by-mail/#gref ABSENTEE VOTING BY MAIL All Ohio voters whose registration information is up-to-date have the opportunity to vote in any election from the convenience of their own homes by requesting an absentee ballot. Absentee voting has many benefits -- You can vote early, it is convenient, it reduces the chance of lines at the polls on Election Day, and absentee ballots are the first votes counted on Election Night. Voters need only fill out and return an application and their absentee ballot will be mailed to them so they may make their selections at their leisure and return their ballot to the board of elections ahead of Election Day. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is three days before the election in which you want to vote, but voters can submit their application any time. If mailed, absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before the election in order to be counted. You can also return your absentee ballot in-person to your county board of elections before the close of the polls at 7:30pm on Election Day. You can request your ballot for each individual election beginning on January 1 or 90 days before the date of an election, whichever is earlier, but you must complete and submit a separate application for each election in which you want to vote. Your request must be received by your local county board of elections by noon the third day before the election (usually a Saturday). However, you should submit your request as far in advance of the election as possible to ensure there is sufficient time for the board to mail you a ballot and for you to timely return that ballot. Return your voted ballot. You can send it by U.S. Mail or deliver it in person to your county board of elections, but the return envelope containing your marked ballot must either be received by your county board of elections prior to the close of the polls on Election Day, or postmarked no later than the day before the election and received by the board of elections no later than 10 days after the election. To make sure your absentee ballot is counted, it must be received by your board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day OR be postmarked by the day before Election Day. TMP SUMMER INTENSIVE 2020PRE-PROFESSIONAL (12 - 18 YRS)JULY 27TH - AUGUST 1ST, 2020 This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, injury prevention and somatic practices. In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance, such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing. As part of our marketing course, each artist will receive dance action shots for their portfolio. Dancers who participate in the summer intensive are also eligible to become a TMP community ambassador for the 2020-2021 season.
