The Nightmare Bar is looking for improvisational performers to join our talent roster for an immersive bar experience this Halloween season! Original characters, in the style of Tim Burton films, will entertain diners at the McJames Sports Pub in Brookpark OH, leading trivia, singalongs, costume contests, and more! Improvisational actors welcome, along with anyone with immersive performance talents such as close-up magic, clowning, or circus/flow abilities. Performances will take place October 3-November 1, Wednesdays through Sundays, with 90min showtimes starting at 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm. On weekends, additional 1pm and 3pm showtimes will be added. Pay is $20/hr, and up to $50 in costuming costs will be reimbursed. Performers are NOT expected to be at all shows! One paid rehearsal/walkthrough is tentatively scheduled for October 2nd, but is flexible around performer availability. Based upon the Twentieth Century Fox motion picture Miracle on 34th Street. This show is directed by Justin Selden and stage managed by Theresa Benyo-Marzullo. Canton Ballet Opens Fall Season with One Stage, Two Legacies and Canton Symphony Collaboration on Peter and the Wolf

CANTON, Ohio — September 16, 2025 — Canton Ballet will open its 2025–26 season with two milestone performances that showcase the strength of collaboration and the legacy of the arts in Northeast Ohio. The season begins Sunday, September 28, at 4:30 p.m. at Gervasi Vineyard with One Stage, Two Legacies, presented in partnership with Ballet Excel Ohio. Based in Cuyahoga Falls and celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Ballet Excel Ohio is a youth ballet company under the direction of Artistic Director Mia Klinger. This one-hour performance will feature both Ballet Excel Ohio and Canton Ballet dancers, highlighting the shared artistry, discipline, and creativity of the region’s young performers. The season continues with the public performance of Peter and the Wolf on Saturday, October 11, at 1 p.m. at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall. The 30-minute production will be performed by Canton Ballet dancers with live accompaniment from the Canton Symphony Orchestra, bringing Prokofiev’s timeless tale to life for audiences of all ages. This year’s Peter and the Wolf will feature newly designed costumes made possible through the generosity of The Hoover Foundation. Near West Theatre is currently looking for 2 dancers/strong movers to complete the casting of our upcoming production of Hairspray. Both of the open roles are for Council Members who present as white and male. There is also the opportunity to understudy the role of Link (additionally or separately) with a guaranteed performance in the role. Rehearsal and performance dates outlining the commitment are included below.
