The Fine Arts Association Begins 2019-2020 Theatre Season This Weekend with The Crucible By Arthur Miller - Directed by Ann Hedger The Fine Arts Association season opens with "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. A winner of a Tony Award for Best Play, the opening night for The Crucible will be on September 20 and will run until October 6. Director, Ann Hedger says, "This exciting drama is about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem. It is a historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society." Show is Sunday, October 13th at Market Square in Crocker Park, no charge/no pay, you can bring your brochures, business cards and flyers to give to the brides as they come in, and then go enjoy the show and watch the fashion show after your set. Wrenching ... pulsates with an adolescent abandon and electricity of which Romeo himself might approve” -The New York Times “A superb adaptation that will open your eyes and ears to the piece as if you were experiencing it with unjaded wonder for the first time.” -The Independent (London) In a repressive Catholic boys' boarding school, four students discover the forbidden text of Shakespeare’s play _Romeo and Juliet _and secretly enact the play, taking turns reading the play aloud. The words and story are thrilling to the boys, and they become swept away in an athletic deluge of adolescent agitation, anxiety, and fierce desires that parallel their own lives. Although they had been taking turns playing all the parts, two of the boys eventually emerge playing Romeo and Juliet exclusively, bringing a whole new dimension to the proceedings. _Shakespeare’s R&J _is directed by convergence-continuum’s Executive Director Cory Molner. Members of the cast are Zach Palumbo, Michael Emery Fox, Joe Soriano and John P. Cox. _Shakespeare’s R&J _ has its final three performances this Thu-Sat at 8 p.m. at con-con’s Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd., Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood. When Dr. Hannelore Schneider tries to rob him one night, Arthur offers her a job helping him translate documents. Hannelore is a devout Nazi, but she is also an intellectual. Parkman, increasingly desperate to understand how such cultured people could commit such horrible acts, summons her for interrogation. The experience leaves him with a crushing responsibility, including a secret that propels him into a future that promises to be nearly unbearable.
