FYI: One of the foremost actors of stage and screen, Austin Pendleton, will be at Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, 11610 Euclid Ave. on September 21st at 2:00 pm. Admission $15; Cinematheque members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $12. Austin Pendleton will be starring in the Beck Center's production of Glengarry Glen Ross from 9/13 through 10/6. Saturday, September 21, at 2:00 pm AN AFTERNOON WITH AUSTIN PENDLETON Austin Pendleton is one of the screen's foremost character actors, with almost 150 movie and TV credits to his name. He has had many memorable supporting roles during his 50+ year film career-from Max in The Muppet Movie and stuttering defense attorney John Gibbons in My Cousin Vinny to Gurgle in Finding Nemo and William Giles in Oz-and has worked with such directors as Orson Welles, Steven Spielberg, Billy Wilder, Alan Pakula, Otto Preminger, Barbra Streisand, and Mike Nichols, to name just a few. But Pendleton's greatest achievements are on the stage, where he has been a hardworking actor (he originated the role of Motel in Fiddler on the Roof in 1964), a Tony- and Obie-nominated director, an influential teacher, and a respected playwright. This workshop will be focusing specifically on Developmental Transformations, the improvisationally-based, mindful modality that allows us to come into contact with ourselves and each other in new and different ways. It's a great practice for self-exploration and discovery. The three hour workshop is primarily experiential, including warm up, group practice, and, for the first time, an experiential of an one-on-one encounter in the play space. Clausarella: The new prince of the North Pole is having a ball to find his bride, the new Mrs. Claus, and Clauarella will do anything to get there in this spoof of two famous stories, including dueling fairy godmothers and a prince skilled in the art of extreme ballet. Santa vs. the Garden Gnomes: After being turned away from the North Pole by Santa's elf-centered work policies, a group of garden gnomes exacts revenge. Revenge of the Gingerbread Boy: The Gingerbread Boy, son of the late Gingerbread Man, (sadly eaten by children) seeks to discover the truth about his cursed father and finds himself mixed up in a tale of murder and intrigue involving Santa himself. Grandma Remembers Something: Grandma's memory isn't what it used to be. So when she sits down to tell the story of how she and Grandpa got together, there are a few inconsistencies, like flying cars, Abraham Lincoln, and the War of 1812. A hilarious Christmas love story about a woman with a mean right hook. *************************** If you have ever wanted to get involved with Community Theatre, this is a great group with which to get started.
