*Lakeland Theatre* *Announces Auditions* * for * *The Inspector General* By *Nikolai Gogol* Hey Guys, I had only three folks audition for this pretty hip play. I know it’s old. I know that it’s the summer. BUT the roles are great. EVERY role can be played by the best actor or actress regardless of anything. This is a great play. *The Play:* This play is the epitome of a satire. Hollywood made a movie with Danny Kaye that bore no resemblance to the play. Written in 1836 in Russia, by Nikolai Gogol, *The Inspector General or as it is sometimes called The Government Inspector,* is a comedy of errors that ridicules political corruption, local corruption, indeed corruption at all levels; this play lampoons everybody and everything. I need actors that are ready take these characters as far as they can. Truth is always funnier than fake news. *ALL AGES, GENDERS, AND ETHNITICITES ARE ENCOURGED TO AUDITION.* *The Plot: **The corrupt officials of a small town, headed by the Mayor, react with terror to the news that an undercover inspector will soon be arriving in their town to investigate them. The Mayor, after years of shaking down all the crooked city department heads himself, is freaked out. As the public officials all try to cover up their misdeeds, a suspicious person has arrived and is staying at the local hotel. That person, however, is not an inspector, but a smart guy on the take. Greetings We are casting 2 Caucasian Male Actors for a one-run interactive performance play held on the weekend of October 25th. with final act Sunday 27th. i.e. Halloween weekend. This is a paid performance, set in the 1985 and would be great for an improvisational comedian/actor with chops but all are welcome to respond, please continue reading We will audition by appointment only on Sunday, August 25th. from 2:30 PM until 5:30 PM with final casting decisions being made no later than Wednesday August 28th. You will be given a time slot should we feel you are a candidate for the roles we are currently casting but we will keep you in our files for upcoming productions. Have your own transportation to and from rehearsals and event venue. We do carpool as much as possible however, more than likely you may have to get there yourself, so please be prepared. 3.) Have the ability to memorize your lines and recite them with conviction while interacting with strangers. In addition, improv skills are a must as is "playing well with others". In other words, act accordingly and don't be an ass...unless your character calls for it. 5.) Please keep in mind that once you've committed to the show, we do expect you to follow through with your performance. Therefore, bouncing out of a role at the last minute is not in the least professional, especially if you're canceling for a better opportunity after making your commitment. You will be paid by check after performance in addition, lodging and all of your meals during the duration of your performance will also be provided. And before you ask...the answer is, no you may not bring along your significant other, buddy, pal, etc... Lakewood Presbyterian Church is looking for a baritone section leader for its traditional choir of around 20 singers. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings Sept 5 - May 14, and the choir sings at the 10 am Sunday service Sept 8 - May 19 (except a break for Dec 22 and 29). Extra services: Christmas Eve and Ash Wednesday are optional; the only required non-Thursday/Sunday call is Sat Dec 14 10-12 (orchestra dress rehearsal for a special music service on Dec 15).
