*Auditions for Ragtime* *Sunday, August 11, 2:00 – 5:00PM Monday, August 12, 7:00 – 10:00PM* *(By Appointment Only)* Auditioners should sign up for an audition slot at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BroadviewHeightsSpot/b21a038476/3c9b656f39/5952503b…>. Invited callbacks, if necessary, will be held on Wednesday, August 14. Auditions will be held at the Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater, 9543 Broadview Road (next to the Police Station), Broadview Heights, OH 44147. The show will be directed by Tim Anderson, music directed by Ryan Bergeron, and choreographed by Zac Hudak. Performers of all ethnicities (ages 15 and up) are invited to audition. The roles of Tateh and Mother have been cast; all other roles are open. There are a small number of roles available for younger performers, and those interested should contact the director directly at education(a)broadview-heights-spotlights.org. Rehearsals will begin the week of September 22. The show runs November 8 – 23 and will be performed in the Spotlights' new 3200-square-foot flexible theater space! Those auditioning should: - Sign up for an audition slot at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BroadviewHeightsSpot/b21a038476/3c9b656f39/3d0267fd…> - Arrive 10 minutes prior to their audition slot to complete an audition form. - Plan to attend only one night of auditions. - Be familiar with the show and its music and themes. - Prepare two brief (up to one-minute) contrasting songs (one up-tempo, one ballad), in the style of the show. - Bring sheet music in the correct keys, hole-punched in a three-ring binder. Singers will not be permitted to sing *a cappella*. - Bring a list of conflicts between September 22 and November 23. This musical is set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, weaving together three distinctly American tales – that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician – united by their courage, compassion and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair... and what it means to live in America. Written by the award-winning composer/lyricist team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens *(Once on This Island*, *Seussical,* and *Lucky Stiff*), noted playwright Terrence McNally, and based on E.L. Solon Center for the Arts has an opening for a part-time Theater Instructor, not to exceed 28 hours per week. Qualified Applicants should have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater or Theater Education from an accredited institution or have related work experience equivalent to such a degree. Graduate experience and knowledge of Technical Theater a plus. Interested applicants must have a minimum of two years teaching and/or directing Youth Theater experience (within the last five years). Responsibilities also include lesson creation, planning, preparation, instruction and directing youth/intergeneration productions. This position involves daytime, evening and weekend hours. The hourly rate is based upon experience and qualifications. Candidates for this position will work closely with the Theater Coordinator and must be able to work with students of all ages and skill levels. Applicants must display a professional demeanor at all times and possess leadership qualities in and out of the classroom. In addition, the applicant should possess excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to work in a team environment. Bay Village Community Theater will hold its second night of auditions for Norm Foster’s “The Ladies Foursome” Tuesday, July 30 at 7 pm at St. Barnabas Church Parkside Hall, 468 Bradley Rd., Bay Village. The Story: “The day after their friend Catherine’s funeral, Margot, Tate, and Connie gather for a round of golf in honour of their recently departed fourth. At the golf course they are joined by another woman, an old friend of Catherine’s they’d never met, Over the course of eighteen holes, secrets and confessions unravel as the women discuss love, sex, children, and everything in between.” Director John Hnat is seeking four actresses ages 40-50’s for the roles of Margo, Tate, Connie, and Dory.
