"The Fine Arts Association hosts a Free Open House "pARTy" On August 3rd, 2019" On August 3, 2019, The Fine Arts Association (FAA) is hosting a free open house "pARTy" starting at 1:00 p.m. welcoming families throughout Northeast Ohio. The pARTy is a celebration and showcase of the art programs offered by FAA. The party offers something for everyone - a dance party, mini arts workshops, open studios, Chili Con Comedy improv student performances, try out instruments, chat with faculty, attend live student performances, play games and win prizes! Don't miss the youth improv performance by Chili Con Comedy on the Corning Stage. All for free! Kelly McMann from Q104 Radio will be broadcasting live and bringing along a prize wheel. Dessert prizes will be part of the Monopoly themed cake walk and participants may win play money for a chance at some fantastic raffle prizes and coupons including a chance to win a $200 voucher for classes or theatre performances at FAA. Free hot dogs, ice cream and beverages are generously provided by Mickey Coyne and family. Some marketing support was provided by Prince Tires, Willoughby. At 4:00 p.m. the City of Willoughby Parks and Recreation has generously donated a free bus to take families to downtown Willoughby to pick up a quick dinner and returns to FAA by 6:30 for the free post-party Cats Crew performance on the Marous Brothers Stage Since 1957, The Fine Arts Association has been the pre-eminent community arts center serving Northeast Ohio. Amazing Adult Acting Class (18 and over) @ BECK CENTER

Director William Roudesbush (Beck Center’s “*Glengarry Glen Ross*”) is offering a 6 week course based on his acclaimed book “*Acting By Mistake*”. This 2 hour weekly class will run Monday evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Beck Center starting Monday August 5th and concluding Monday Sept. 9th. {Note: In lieu of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2nd, class will be Tuesday, Sept. 3rd from 6:30PM to 8:30PM} Tuition is $300 for the session. This same class is offered in NYC by instructor Roudebush for $600, but Beck Center is pleased to bring it to NE Ohio at a 50% discount. Class size is limited to 9 students so there will be a great deal of hands-on class time. Ideally students will be 18 or over. The class is filled with ideas that embrace exactly what you need to do when you can’t remember your lines, become intimidated by other actors, hear yourself talking while you audition or perform, have difficulty looking another actor directly in the eye, can only say a line on way or you just lack confidence in your own skills. It focuses on specifically what to do when you step onto the stage to audition, rehearse, or perform. There is no pretense; just practical suggestions for situations you encounter everyday as a developing artist. Veronica longs to be cool like the clique of it-girls that runs Westerberg: the unaffected, unattainable Heathers. Unfortunately, in addition to awesome levels of popularity, the Heathers are also cruel, choosing to mock and bully their kingdom into submission. When Veronica uses her skills as a forger to get the Heathers out of detention, she impresses their leader Heather Chandler— so much so that they agree to let her into their exclusive club. At first, Veronica is thrilled—until she finds out that being one of the Heathers means bullying the same kids she used to call friends. Meanwhile, Veronica finds herself attracted to a mysterious newcomer at school named Jason Dean (JD). About The Process… This rehearsal process will be conventional in nature and based in character development, song, and basic dance. There may be some scene creation during the rehearsal process. Actors will be expected to make strong proposals, be generous, and meet deadlines given. Rehearsals will begin on or around October 14th. Rehearsals are 5-6 times a week, with evening weekday rehearsals and some daytime weekend rehearsals. Performances begin with a preview on November 21st and opening on November 22nd. The production runs November 21 – December 21, Thurs/Fri/Sat at 7:30pm in the Gordon Square Theatre. Important Information about The Play… The Loush Sisters is bawdy, irreverent, and sometimes raunchy. This is a highly topical production with poor taste jokes inspired by the headlines.
