Hi All!! We still have a few spots left for this great workshop! This workshop is for both film and stage actors! Staging For The Working Actor Be an actor that directors want to cast! Get on your feet and learn how to get the most out of staging rehearsals. Learn how to collaborate with a director to create organic, truthful, and compelling stage pictures that communicate character and action. Christine McBurney has extensive Acting, Teaching and Directing experience and offers lots of valuable information in her workshops. On Sunday July 28th, from 1p-5p, Christine will be teaching a special workshop called Staging For The Working Actor, at Houde School of Acting (2310 Superior Ave, Cleveland). Limited seating so register quick! She is a member of Directors Lab Lincoln Center (NYC), Directors Lab West (L.A), Directors Lab North (Toronto), and Cleveland Play House Directors Gym. Christine was a co-founding, producing co-artistic director of the critically-acclaimed classical theatre company, Mamaí Theatre (2010-2017). In 2017, The Cleveland Critics' Circle honored Mamaí and her production of A DOLL’S HOUSE at Playhouse Square with two Superior Achievement Awards. As an educator, Christine was named a U.S. Presidential Scholars Program’s Distinguished Teacher and a Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She has received grants and fellowships to study Shakespeare in performance at The Globe Theatre in London, the National Endowment for the Humanities’ National Institute on Teaching Shakespeare, and The Juilliard School. Currently she is an adjunct faculty member at Baldwin Wallace University’s Department of Theatre & Dance. For 16 years prior, she taught theatre and film and served a stint as Chair of Shaker Heights High School’s nationally-recognized and award-winning theatre arts department. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature and Writing from Columbia University and an MFA in Acting from Kent State University. After training at a young age in Hip Hop and Musical Theater, Davon grew a love and appreciation for both street and concert dance which lead him to train in many other styles. Chance has trained at many prestigious schools such as Youth Theater Interactions, Evolve Dance, Central Park Dance, Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, The Hip Hop Conservatory, Peridance, Steps on Broadway, and Broadway Dance Center. After receiving a BFA in Dance and BA in Arts Management from SUNY Purchase College, Chance continues to challenge himself by participating in dance workshops, intensives, and classes; which continues to bring new energy, life, and experience to his choreographic mind. Chance currently dances in three modern companies; DiMauro Dance, Crooked Mouth, and Beth Liebowitz & Artists. In addition to dancing for these companies, Chance has had the opportunity to showcase his choreography at a handful of choreographic showcases. Chance also has a background in dance-fitness and sports rehabilitation. He enjoys teaching and is an energetic and a motivating instructor. She began her dance training under Joanne Morscher at the Royal School of Ballet at the age of 7. She received her BS in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Columbia University. During her 7 years of school, she spent much of her time dancing, choreographing, and directing her university's respective dance organizations and taking dance classes at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater under Robert Vickrey and Broadway Dance Center under Michelle Barber and Sheryl Murakami. After graduating in 2013, Anna spent a year traveling internationally as the physical therapist for the Tony-winning Broadway play, "WarHorse", and taking dance classes around the world. Throughout her many years dancing, Anna has had the privilege of training under teachers such as Dee Hillier, Raymond Ejiofor, Ana Lobe, Kevin Martin, and Yoko Ichino, attending summer intensive programs at BalletMet and Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts. Anna has danced professionally with companies including NEOS, EPIC Motion, Cleveland's Dancing With The Stars, and Asylum Entertainment. She has choreographed a few local musicals, assisted with dance for Parkinson's classes, and even worked on a choreography project with the US Department of Health! Currently, when not filling her life with CDP, she works at University Hospitals as a senior physical therapist and the founder of UH's dance rehabilitation program. "Tom at the Farm" Great play! No hay!

_CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM_ ____ _TOM AT THE FARM_ ____ NO HAY ON THE SET (BUT THERE IS ONE REALLY GREAT PLAY!) In Roy Berko’s recent review of con-con’s production of _Tom at the Farm, _he warned that there were bales of hay on the set that allergy sufferers might be wary of. WRONG! There are bales of straw on set. Big difference! Hay is dried grass and includes the grass “heads” wherein lie the seeds, pollen, etc. Straw, however, consists of only the dried stalks (i.e. stems) of wheat after the seed heads have been removed. Hay is used as animal feed. Straw is used in stalls for animal bedding. For a long time it was also used for filling mattresses and, in fact, still is. (You can go online and find plenty of instructions for making your own straw mattress.) So come on, who would really think we didn’t know any better than to put hay on the set? Some things that Mr. Berko did get right, however, are: “Tom at the Farm ... unfolds with blurred boundaries between lust and brutality, truth and fiction. It blends psychological-thriller elements as it moves toward an unsettling plunge into a nightmare of fear, intolerance and fantasy.” “The con con production is strong.” “The acting is of high quality.” “Kudos to Mike Frye (Tom), Daniel McElhaney (Francis) and Madelyn Voltz (Sara) for nicely texturing their performances. Laura Starnik is exceptional as Agatha” “fulfills the theatre’s mission of “expanding human imagination and extends the conventional boundaries of language, structure, space and performance.” This is the kind of play with sexual overtones and the bizarre that turns on the typical con-con loyalist.” So don’t miss out. Just two more weekends. _Tom at the Farm _runs Thu-Sat at 8 p.m. through August 3 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd., Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood. Fri and Sat tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Thurs tickets are $15 gen. admission, $12 seniors and $8 students.
