Film Festival: New Venue

The 24th Indie Gathering International Film Festival is coming up August 8th through 11th, and we are excited to announce a new venue! The festival will now be held at Holiday Inn in Mentor, located at 7701 Reynolds Rd. This is a great location, just 20 minutes from Downtown Cleveland. All festival events will be held within the hotel. Individuals staying at the hotel can book rooms through our discounted rate by calling and letting them know you are with The Indie Gathering. The hotel has a great restaurant and bar on site, and there are also many restaurants, shops, and amenities within walking distance of the hotel. Very convenient while you are networking with filmmakers and writers from around the world at this fun 4-day event. This year's Indie Gathering will feature 150 films from around the world, with an additional 27 films screening on Thursday and Friday as part of the United Latino Film Festival, presented by The Indie Gathering. If you love seeing a child’s eyes light up through dance, working collaboratively, and are open to a flexible learning environment for your students, we want to meet you! Dance Instructor Role We are looking for a delightful and committed Dance Instructor who is passionate about their studio work with children and their families, student-focused in their pedagogy, organized, reliable, an outstanding communicator, and a dedicated team player. In this role, you will be a key part of Thrive’s “Leap ’N Learn” pre-ballet Dance offering, and you will support Thrive’s vision by contributing collaboratively to our dance schedule, with warm and flexible dance classes facilitated by our licensed Leap ‘N Learn dance curriculum, and by keeping family connections warm. Cleveland Dance Project's Season 5 Choreographer Applications are now open! We are seeking choreographers of *all styles* to apply to choreograph for our Season 5 Showcase. CDP is the area's largest dance, choreography and performance outlet for *dancers (18+)* who want to continue performing and/or choreographing into their adult life in the greater Cleveland/Akron area. Our dance family consists of all levels of dancers from the beginner to the professional. Choreographers are responsible for holding weekly 90 minute rehearsals with dancers who are cast in their piece at open auditions on 8/25/19, creating a short piece (less than 4 minutes) that will be performed at our Season 5 Showcase on 11/23/19. CDP provides space, a small costume budget, dancers, and the opportunity to network with people from all walks of the local dance community! WHAT - Join us for a fun evening of swing music and swing dancing WHEN - 8 - 9 pm All-levels, beginner-friendly Jitterbug dance lesson with multi-year swing dance champion, Valerie Salstrom. You do not need a partner to attend the lesson or dance. We rotate partners. If you bring a partner and choose not to rotate that is okay too. 9 pm - 12 am Live music provided by one of the first swing bands in the region, Hepcat Revival. WHERE - The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. There is a large parking lot behind the building. Enter through the front doors. BAND - Hepcat Revival Hepcat Revival is a 7-piece swinging, jump blues band of roustabouts and ne'er-do wells. Playing toe-tapping, finger-poppin' music reminiscent of a time when cars were as big as Rhode Island, America traveled by rail, and you didn't know what politicians did behind closed doors. Decked out in the full regalia of the latest fashions, Hepcat Revival will dazzle you with music the likes of Louis Prima, Big Joe Turner, Cab Calloway, and Louis Jordan, as well as a few beauties of their own composition. https://www.facebook.com/HepcatRevival/ ATTIRE - Wear what makes you feel good and allows you to move and pivot easily. COST - Dances are $12 per person. $5 for first-timers to a Get Hep Swing monthly dance. Pay at the door. There are no pre-event ticket sales. WHO MAY ATTEND? - You do not need to bring a dance partner but you may be dancing with lots of different people during the lesson and while the band plays, if you like. If you want to only dance with the person you bring with you, that is fine too. You do not need previous dance experience. We do hope you bring a positive and open mind and attitude. PARKING - There is a free lot in the back. Plenty of street parking as well. Enter through the front double doors. If using an elevator would make your life easier, please park in the back and enter through the single door at the corner of the building. Once inside you will find that there is a small incline to the elevator. Please push the button for the ballroom. Please come and see the person at the front desk or send someone to pay for you. We welcome anyone to join us who has an interest in dance, music, socializing and fun. We don't care what your physical ability or size is, where you are in life, where you are on the spectrum of sexual or gender orientation, what color or creed, or non-creed, you are. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join. Get Hep Swing is lead by owner, founder, and multi-year national and international swing dance champion, Valerie Salstrom.
