This Oscar Wilde classic ("a trivial comedy for serious people") uses humor to play with themes of society, marriage and relationships in a witty manner. Directed by Russ Borski, this cheeky production is lush with mistaken identities, plot twists and madcap action. Earnest is often categorized as a comedy of manners, using humor and satire to address more serious themes of social standing and inter-personal relationships. "As these issues are underplayed, trivial matters in life such as the choice of eating bread and butter as compared with having cake are given serious discussion," Borski said. "Wilde elevates the simple act of speech to a competitive sport, with verbal sparring turned into an Olympic event." The all CSU cast includes Casie Griffis (Miss Prism), Aaron Levigne (Rev. Rubber City Theatre is accepting submissions for the available tracks below in Romeo and Juliet. We are casting local non-union actors. You may be asked to submit a video audition. Non-AEA contracts: Adult Non-AEA Contracts will pay $90 - $100 stipend, depending on the track for the production. Theatre on the Spectrum presents Clowning Around!

Theatre on the Spectrum, NE Ohio’s only day theatre company for adults with disabilities, presents “Clowning Around,” an hour’s worth of original clown comedy acts. The performances will be held at the Blue Box Studio, 1501 S Hawkins Ave, Akron OH 44320 — in the New Season plaza. Company members were inspired by working with Gale McNeely, a traveling clown and commedia teacher from California, who led a workshop with the troupe this past fall. Clowning involves learning many physical skills. The challenge for the company was finding ways to include all abilities in the comedy. Through collaboration and creative thinking, the actors have devised a montage of clown acts that include tributes to traditional circus clowns, William Shakespeare, the Kinks, and Samuel Beckett. This production is co-directed by Wendy Duke and Ruben Ryan. Performance dates are: March 18, 20 & 21 at noon; March 22 at 7 pm March 25, 27, 28 at 1 pm; March 29 at 7 pm A ticket donation of $3 is suggested. The Movement Project Pre-Professional Summer Intensive Audition in Canton The Movement Project will be hosting an audition at Inspire Performing Arts Center in Canton February 24th for dancers aged 12-18 to take part in this year’s summer intensive July 29th-August 3rd. This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, injury prevention and somatic practices. In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing.
