Westerley got his start directing in L.A. and has directed many local productions. He took *Other Desert Cities *and *Confessions from the Ladies Room *(Wolf Creek Players) and *Thumbs *(Hudson Players) to the Regional and State OCTA competitions, winning 12 awards total. Twin Masks Performing Arts Center (TMPAC), located in heart of Twinsburg, at 9076 Church Street, Suites 2 and 3, is proud to announce auditions for its upcoming production of THE REALISTIC JONESES, written by Will Eno, and directed by Claudia Lillibridge. Auditions will be held at TMPAC on Sunday, February 24 and Monday, February 25 beginning at 7pm, on both dates. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Production dates are the first three weekends in May (Friday and Saturday nights only): May 3, 4, 10, 11 and 17 and 18, 2019. 8pm start time. THE STORY: In The Realistic Joneses, we meet Bob and Jennifer and their new neighbors, John and Pony, two suburban couples who have even more in common than their identical homes and their shared last names. As their relationships begin to irrevocably intertwine, the Joneses must decide between their idyllic fantasies and their imperfect realities. Performances are the first three weekends in May, 2019 (Friday and Saturday nights only, 8pm). Director: Claudia Lillibridge. Rehearsals will typically be Sunday - through Wednesdays from 7pm - 9pm. Much will be based on cast conflicts / availability. Witness for the Prosecution Review by Laura Kennelly Most people might hesitate to be chosen for jury duty. But at the Hanna Theatre during the run of *Witness for the Prosecution*, it’s an entertaining option for brave audience members who wish to volunteer for onstage seating. Great Lakes Theater’s artistic director Charles Fee directs this latest incarnation of Agatha Christie’s 1953 drama. (The most famous version of *Witness* may be the 1957 film version starring Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton). [Snip] BOTTOM LINE: An old-fashioned talky courtroom drama, well-executed by a good cast in both major and minor roles. The play itself, however, seems extremely sedate as written and so despite some rather well-done high drama that flares out all too briefly, I want more. Independence Community Theater is Announcing Auditions for Squabbles Written by Marshall Karp Produced by special arranges with Samuel French, Inc. This hilarious play pits a father-in-law against a mother in a comedic succession of squabbles. Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. Living with the happy couple is the not so happy Abe Dreyfus, Jerry’s curmudgeon of father-in-law. Abe is funny a guy to the audience, not to Jerry. The situation is exacerbated when Jerry’s mother Mildred looses her house in a fire and needs a place to stay. Abe and Mildred can’t stand each other. This play is one hilarious confrontation after another until the heart-warming finale in which the oldsters discover that, really, each is not so bad. Cast of Characters: 4 men, 3 women Character ages flexible Abe Dreyfus (60++): retired cab driver, Alice’s father Mildred Sloan (60+); Jerry’s mother Jerry Sloan (30+); jingle writer, Alice’s husband Alice Sloan (Mid 20’s+); lawyer, Jerry’s wife Hector Lopez (30-50); Hispanic handyman? Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness—or genius—will she inherit? Proof is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York. She left Robert and Catherine behind, distancing herself from the run-down family home of her youth. She left the family to make a new life for herself in New York City. Robert (50s-60s) - A recently deceased mathematician praised for his groundbreaking work in his youth, but whose later years were plagued by delusional mental illness; he is seen in Catherine's imagination and in flashbacks. Harold (Hal) Dobbs (20s-30s) - One of Robert's last Ph.D. students during the one year his idol and mentor's illness went into remission, at least enabling Robert to teach, if not continue his own creative mathematical work.
