Tickets are on sale now for SEAT OF THE PANTS' production of Brian Friel's MOLLY SWEENEY, being performed at Weathervane Playhouse in Akron on November 9-11 and 16-18, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at either www.seatofthepants.org or https://mollysweeney.eventbrite.com. *Seating is limited so advance purchase is recommended. * One of Ireland’s finest playwrights, Brian Friel, creates a daring piece of theater by placing three memorable characters onstage, speaking directly to the audience, in a series of interlocking monologues that present divergent points of view on the same intriguing tale. Molly herself, blind since she was an infant, tells of her world before and after an operation to try and restore her sight. Her husband, itinerant champion of good causes, talks of his passion to help her. Her once famous eye surgeon, now a whiskey-sodden recluse, sees the operation as a chance to reclaim his reputation. But nothing goes quite as any of them expected. Lush language, insightful ideas, and moving performances fill this beautiful parable about the differences between seeing and understanding. Directed by Craig Joseph, the production stars Natalie Sander Kern, Abraham Adams, and Brian Newberg, and is stage managed by Sam Landgraf. Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. Dr. Hutton offers free consultations to those interested before committing to the voice studio. "Man of La Mancha" at Spotlights Theater

BROADVIEW HEIGHTS SPOTLIGHTS THEATER PRESENTS “MAN OF LA MANCHA” The Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater’s production of the brutal, hilarious,and heartbreaking musical, Man of La Mancha, will run November 2through November 17, 2018. Friday and Saturday performances are at7:30PM; a Sunday matinee on November 11 will begin at 3:00PM. All showswill be at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building (Spotlights Theater),9543 Broadview Road, next to the Police Station. Tickets are $15 for adults and$14 for seniors and students. Reservations may be made on-line at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org. The musical is an adaptation of the 17th-centurynovel, Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. The original1965 Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards,including Best Musical. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh andlyrics by Joe Darion, the show has been revived four times on Broadway,becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre. Thecelebrated score includes “The Impossible Dream,” “I, Don Quixote,” “Dulcinea,”“I Really Like Him,” “Little Bird,” and “To Each His Dulcinea.” Playing Cervantes (who also becomes Don Quixote) is Spotlights’ EducationDirector, Tim Anderson. While waiting in prison for a hearingwith the Spanish Inquisition, Cervantes recruits his trusty side kick, SanchoPanza (Declan Newton) and the rest of his fellow prisoners to act outthe story of the "mad" knight Don Quixote. The story portraysDon Quixote’s quest for his Dulcinea (Stephanie Malfara) and celebratesthe perseverance of a dying old man who refuses to give up his ideals or hispassion. Director Ryan Bergeron leads the ensemble cast of prisoners,who all play different roles in the story. The exceptionally-talentedgroup of local actors includes Roxanna Bell, Adam Bowers, ArielBrinker, John Janoch, Shain Josef, BobNewton, Peggy Newton, James Newton, SarahPrice, Marco Quiroz, Eli Ravenson, EllieRitterbusch, Addie Wisniewski, and Natalie Zenczak. Orrville Community Players announce auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life” (based on film by Frank Capra and story by Philip Van Doren Stern, script adaptation by James W. Rodgers). Auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life”, directed by Sam, will be held on Friday, October 26th, 7-9pm and Sunday, October 28th, 12-3pm. Auditions will be held at Orrville Community Theater – 307 Hostetler Road, Orrville OH 44667 – located in the plaza with Save-A-Lot Auditions will be a cold read from the script with the director. Men, Women and a few children will be needed. A crew will also be needed (stage manager, lights, costumes, etc). If you are interested in being on the crew, please come to auditions and fill out the audition form and meet with the director! Show dates will be December Dec 13, 14, 15 & 16, 2018 Orrville Community Theater is a small non-profit theater and all positions are voluntary. No stipend or payment for any actor, crew or other person involved.
