Mighty Goliath Productions will celebrate its 60th anniversary with Ian Fleming's musical spectacle, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG. Directed by Douglas F. Bailey II with Choreography by Nicci Cassara Billington; this year's production promises to be a wonderful time for people are all ages! Take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming's children's book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find "Truly Scrumptious." WHAT: Auditions for CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG WHERE: Learwood Middle School Choir Room 340 Lear Road Avon Lake, OH 44012 WHEN: September 10th and 12th from 7-10 PM. No Appointments necessary. Auditions will be seen on a first come first seen basis. Please allow time to find the venue and complete paperwork. Please notify the production team if you are planning to arrive later in the evening. You will be released after your audition. LCCC Announces Auditions For *THE NIGHT THOREAU SPENT IN JAIL* By Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Directed by Sarah May WHAT: Lorain County Community College will hold auditions for the 2018 Fall Production *The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail*, a lively theatrical portrait of famed American writer, environmentalist and activist Henry David Thoreau. Written by Cleveland nativeJerome Lawrence and Elyria native Robert E. Lee*, *best known for *Inherit the Wind* and *Auntie Mame, *this wonderfully imaginative script takes an obscure moment in history and turns it into an inspiring tale for our times. In 1849 young Henry David Thoreau was sent to jail for refusing to pay his taxes to support a brutal war he considered unjust. In the play Henry stews in his jail cell, while his mind wanders back and forth in time reliving key moments and encounters that shaped his life. We meet the teacher who inspired him, the girl he loved but didn't marry, a runaway slave he tried to help, and the citizens of a town who never understood the young man who marched to a different drum. Thoreau's decision to go to jail for standing by his beliefs, or committing what he called *civil disobedience, *set a precedent for all those who would come after him: abolitionists, suffragettes, freedom riders, conscientious objectors, peace advocates, and ecologists. *Copies of the playscript will be on reserve at the LCCC Bass Library until the audition dates.* WHO: Auditions are open to all LCCC students and staff, as well as actors from the community. We are seeking a multi–generational, multi-ethnic ensemble to bring the vibrant community of 19th Century Concord, Massachusetts to life on stage. WHEN AND WHERE: Auditions will be held Sunday afternoon, September 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 and Monday evening, September 10 from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Cirigliano Studio Theatre inside The Stocker Arts Center 1005 N. We have to imagine our body as a kind of sponge which eagerly absorbs all that is given to it in the form of psychological values.” Michael Chekhov WHAT ARE WE DOING? In A Kind of Sponge, we will explore Qualities of Movement (Moulding, Floating, Flying, and Radiating), The Four Brothers (Feelings of Ease, Form, Beauty, and the Whole), and characterization with Imaginary Body. The Michael Chekhov Technique is a holistic, psycho-physical approach to acting that synthesizes the actor's body and psychology. You discover how the magic of your movement, in tandem with your imagination and feeling life, has the ability to enliven the spaces within yourself, as well as the spaces around you. Solo and ensemble explorations in movement, concentration, atmosphere, and gesture increase your flexibility, honesty, joy, and ease as a performing artist. Through Psychological Gesture, you learn to free your body as a conduit for the soul of your character. Your Creative Individuality is supported and nourished, your artistic work becomes more inspired, and the practices are easily transferred to your daily life. WHO'S LEADING THIS EXPLORATION? Ray Caspio is a performance and teaching artist whose satirical work invites audiences into the worlds of his eccentric characters. Ray is a recipient of a 2016 Creative Workforce Fellowship. He has appeared on the annual Best of Theatre Lists for Cleveland Scene Magazine (2014 and 2017) and WCPN/NPR’s The Sound of Applause (2014). In 2014, he was profiled by Scene as their Thespian of the year. Ray has performed at Theater Ninjas (Associate Artistic Director 2012-2015), Playhouse Square, Dobama Theatre, Cleveland Public Theatre, convergence-continuum, Talespinner Children’s Theatre, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Ray created the Uncle Toots webseries and live performance pieces, in addition to the comedy and conversation podcast, WHO•RAY. He has taught for Cleveland Play House, Playhouse Square, MetroHealth Arts-in-Medicine, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Ray’s training includes Bouffon, Eccentric Performing, personal storytelling, and sketch writing and improv (Second City Chicago).
