The old saying: " If you don't breathe, you don't sing" can be understood at, say, a casual level, but there is a much deeper meaning to that, too. And it applies to speech mode as well. If you are still running out of air during certain phrases, come and see me. If you are beginning to run short of air because you are getting older or THINK that is why, come and see me. If you are still not able to get ALL of your breath during the "Catch" breath, come and see me. Most of us are holding our breath MOST of the time and think we aren't; that also reduces your range. You lose your high notes first, you know! Most of what limits us is due to what we don't know about breathing. Give me a chance to help you make improvements. This is for a demo recording of the score. Each recording session pays between $50 and $100 depending on amount of singing required. Must be able to learn music independently with limited coaching. Exciting reading and workshop production soon to come. This is a great opportunity to help shape the characters and music of a new musical. Jenna and the Troublemaker had a bright start with the Sundance Theatre Program and has a promising future, now supported by the Ohio Arts Council. I’m truly thrilled to be developing this in my hometown of Cleveland, with so much amazing talent! The music is complex, influenced by Sondheim or Adam Guettel in that it moves the action of the story forward and deepens character development. Not a rock/pop opera. CURRENTLY CASTING: JENNA Bright, expressive lyric soprano with mid-range belt. Youthful sounding. Complex emotional life expressed in song. Up tempo or ballad. TROUBLEMAKER Nimble, rich lyric tenor. The Players Guild Theatre in collaboration with The Canton Symphony Orchestra will present the semi-staged concert, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME on August 16, 2025 at 7:30PM at Umstattd Hall. Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. Auditions for this collaboration will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at The Players Guild Theatre, 6000 Frank Ave NW, North Canton, OH, 44720, in the Fine Arts Building on the campus of Kent State University at Stark. Those wishing to audition should prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre selection, which best showcases their range. We are looking for a theatre space to rent for three long weekends (3 to 4 performances each week). We are staging a splashy gay musical we have authored. The west side is preferred but we are happy to consider other locations as well. Dates of the run are flexible and open. We'll be seeking a cast of 14 plus a small orchestra.
