She has studied with Malashock Dance and Co, danced with Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre, Quagmire Dance Inc, and Full Circle Dance Company. She has had several choreographical works adjudicated by Ronald K. Brown, Elizabeth Streb, Zvi Gunthier, Mark Taylor, Martha Myers and others. Madi has worked extensively in the school system, developing their dance programs, teaching, and holding administrative roles. She is the Director & Owner of Evolution Dance Studios, debuting in Fall 2018. After work Keith manages his own independent publishing company specializing in pop-up books. His latest book, "What a Mess! A Pop-Up Misadventure" was successfully funded on KickStarter and has was recently self-published in June 2017. se You may be wondering, "What exactly is a paper-engineer?" WHAT - JAZZ AGE LAWN PARTY AND SWING DANCE with live music and dance instruction This is THE dance to bring out your seersucker suits, knickers, and flowy flapper dresses! The Night Owls will play all of your favorite 1920s tunes in the ballroom. During the band breaks, we will have activities outside on the lawn and the veranda including croquet, badminton, cool treats, and all shellac DJ sets by Valerie Salstrom. WHERE - The Lakewood Masonic Temple swing dance is the longest running swing dance in the Cleveland area. Amazing live music and DJs have been keeping everyone's toes tapping the second Friday of every month since before 1998. The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. There is a large parking lot behind the building. Enter through the front doors. This month we will have activities on the lawn and veranda. WHEN - Friday, July 13th From 8-9pm Get Hep Swing instructors lead a beginner-friendly, partnered Charleston lesson. 9-12 the Night Owls hit the stage. THE BAND - The Night Owls are a unique 10 piece orchestra specializing in the authentic performance of the irresistible hot dance music of the 1920’s — the Golden Age of Jazz! The tuxedo-clad Night Owls perform songs such as “You’re Driving Me Crazy” and “Crazy Words, Crazy Tunes”, as well as fox trots, waltzes, and standards of the 20’s such as “Baby Face.” ATTIRE - 1920s-30s daytime attire is encouraged but not necessary. COST - Dances are $12 per person, $10 for students and seniors with a valid ID. WHO MAY ATTEND? You do not need to bring a dance partner but you may be dancing with lots of different people during the lesson and while the band plays, if you like. If you want to only dance with the person you bring with you, that is fine too. You do not need previous dance experience. We do hope you bring a positive and open mind and attitude. We welcome anyone to join us who has an interest in dance, music, socializing and fun. We don't care what your physical ability or size is, where you are in life, where you are on the spectrum of sexual or gender orientation, what color or creed, or non-creed, you are. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join. Get Hep Swing is lead by owner, founder, and multi-year national and international swing dance champion, Valerie Salstrom. We love spreading the gospel of swing dancing and we are excited to share the language and culture of this truly American, urban folk dance form with you. It is important for us to let you know that this dance style started in the African-American ballrooms of Harlem, New York in the late 1920s/early 1930s. This dance has a gritty earthiness that is incredibly empowering and joyful. We can't wait for you to experience this conversation of dance with us. bare: a pop opera opens this weekend at WRP

Western Reserve Playhouse presents the emotional drama bare with Music by Damon Intrabartolo, Lyrics by Jon Hartmere and Book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo. The show will run July 13-28. As part of their commitment to community awareness, WRP is partnering with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to bring you this show. In doing so, WRP & GLSEN will be holding talkbacks after the performances on July 14th, 22nd and 27th. These talkbacks will include the ability to talk with the cast and director, as well as different representatives from GLSEN. A pulsating, electric contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity and the future. Peter and Jason have fallen in love with each other, but Jason - a popular athlete - fears losing his status if he is discovered to be gay. Unpopular Nadia, Jason’s sister, is contemptuous of Ivy, a beautiful girl with a questionable reputation. As the group attempts to put up a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers and God’s path seems more difficult to find than ever. bare rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics and a cast of bright young characters, bare is a provocative, fresh and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide. Co-Artistic Director Brian Westerley directs this stunning piece, with Musical Direction by Dave Stebbins and Choreography by Kristy Cruz. Tackling the roles of Peter & Jason are Nick Urbanic & Nick Sobotka, respectively. Bringing her own unique take to Nadia is Korinne Courtwright & stunningly portraying Ivy is Laney Davis. The other students are played by Dominic Sonby, Daniel Hunsicker, Kayla Lehman, Khylee Kridler, Olivya DeLuca, Brooke Lytton, Austin Hopson and Ben Arrington. Summer auditions are here and are you prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years.
