STRIKE, BOOM, BASH with BorderLight! A Carnival-Inspired Benefit Party in Support of Cleveland’s Inaugural BorderLight Festival of International Theatre Neohiopal artists and arts-lovers! Did you know that Cleveland is growing a festival of international theatre? The BorderLight Festival of International Theatre is a 4-day performing arts festival launching in Cleveland in the summer of 2019. The festival will feature top flight performances from around the world, in addition to a fringe festival and collaborations with local companies. On August 2, 2018 BorderLight is hosting “STRIKE, BOOM, BASH with BorderLight!”—a carnival-inspired benefit party in support of the inaugural BorderLight Festival of International Theatre. Near West Theatre seeks an experienced Stage Manager for its upcoming production of *Newsies.* This is a paid position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Attend and take notes at all production meetings · Manage rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation of blocking and technical elements. · Manage tech rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation for run of show. · Supervise and direct crew for run of show. · Manage crew and cast call times, sound checks, performances and sightlines. · Call audio, lighting, and deck cues. · Complete rehearsal and show reports, according to Company standards. · Attend tech notes following each night of tech. · Coordinate with Front of House during performances · Manage emergency situations if they arise during rehearsals and performances (will be trained on company procedures) · Maintain rehearsal and performance spaces. Required Skills: · Astute attention to detail · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with others · Must be able to solve problems as and when they may arise · Strong organizational and adaptability skills · Positive attitude and the ability to remain effective under pressure while managing staff and motivating teams for best results. · Experience working with kids ages 9-15 Rehearsals start July 29th. The rehearsal and performance schedule are as follows: · Rehearsals are Sunday-Wednesday. (with the exception of two possible Thursday rehearsals to make up for holidays) · Sunday Rehearsals: 1p-9:30p, Monday-Wednesday 6:30p-9:30p · Dry Tech: Saturday, September 15th from 11a-4p · Tech Week: Sunday, September 16th from 11a-10p, Monday, September 17th-Thursday, September 20th 5p-10:30p · Performances: September 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th · Curtain Times for Thursday-Saturday performances are 7:30p, Sundays are 3p. The Laramie Project Opens This Friday at Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre Located at 324 Cleveland Ave NW Canton Ohio 44702 In October 1998, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. His bloody, bruised, and battered body was not discovered until the next day, and he died several days later in an area hospital. His name was Matthew Shepard, and he was the victim of this assault because he was gay. Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie over the course of a year and a half, in the aftermath of the beating and during the trial of the two young men accused of killing Shepard.THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable. The acting was outstanding, and the actors had such passion for their roles. We are so incredibly *fortunate to have such amazing theater in Aurora!!* *7/9/2018 1:00 PM* I have seen many shows in my life, from the first I saw when I was 12 (I am 61).
