Under the dedicated guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, children enhance academic and life skills as they develop their own plays and perform them for their community. * Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) Rigorous training for inner city youth ages 14-19 in acting, writing, movement, voice, production, and touring. During the 8-week summer program, students work in collaboration with CPT artists to develop an original play or an inventive adaptation of an existing work, and then tour it to outdoor venues throughout the City of Cleveland. SKILLS REQUIRED * Extensive experience in at least one theatre-related arts discipline (dance, drumming, singing, acting, creative writing, etc.) * Experience teaching children and/or teenagers. * Qualified to be a strong role model for inner city youth and/or teenagers. * Energetic, responsive, flexible, creative * Attentive to details, ability to work independently * Openness to learning new techniques in the creation of original performance material CONSIDERATIONS * Programs run 8-10 weeks, 4-6 days per week, June-Aug 2018 * Daytime and early evening hours - or - Afternoon and evening hours (depending on program) * Extended days for training and program touring * Artist must have a reliable means of transportation. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The musical (with a book by George Furth) was first produced in November of 1981, where it ran for 17 performances. Not very successful eh? It tells of the disintegration of the friendship of successful songwriter Franklin Shepard, his lyricist and best friend Charlie Kringas, and novelist Mary Flynn. The action moves backward through time, from 1976 to 1957. This is one of Stephen Sondheim’s most accessible and difficult scores. It is most certainly about friendship and its importance in the lives of three people. This show has great personal meaning to me. And while the book is problematic; I am confident that our production team and the actors that are cast can overcome this. Celebrate Dance History Month

Cleveland City Dance will host a weekend of Master Classes with inspiring teacher Lauren Anderson. A native Houstonian, Lauren Anderson danced with Houston Ballet from 1983 to 2006, performing leading roles in all the great classical ballets, appearing across the world to critical acclaim audience, and in the process, becoming one of Houston Ballet’s most beloved stars.� She trained exclusively at Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy from the age of seven. She joined Houston Ballet in 1983 as a Corps de Ballet. In 1987 she was promoted to soloist and in 1990 became the first African-American to be promoted to principal dancer at Houston Ballet. She is also one of the few African-American ballerinas at the head of a major ballet company anywhere in the world. In January 2007, Ms. Anderson assumed her new role in Houston Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement program, where she conducts master classes at area schools, and lectures to students on dance and her historic career as one of America’s most distinguished African-American ballerinas. In the spring of 2016, she became a permanent exhibit in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Lauren Anderson will bring her teaching excellence to Cleveland City Dance February 23-25, 2018. Intermediate/Advance ballet classes will be held Saturday and Sunday along with Pointe and Variation classes. A Professional Only class will be held Sunday at 10:00 am. LCCC’s Stocker Arts Center Holds Scale-Focused Art Gallery Exhibit Lorain County Community College will hold an exhibition of artwork focused on “Scale” on Monday, February 19 through Friday, March 23, with an artists’ reception from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, in the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery at Stocker Arts Center. This exhibit shows a wide variety of art mediums such as painting, prints, drawing, paper art, book arts, ceramics, enamel drawings, sculpture, installation art, graffiti and performance art. The installations were created by two artists who will create site specific work for the show. The event is a teaching lab exhibition. “The concept for the ‘Scale’ show came from observing art students struggle with the issue of size and proportion in their art,” said curator and art professor Nany Halbrooks. “Artists decide upon scale in their art in a multitude of ways. One way is the actual size of work, large (larger than life), medium (standard) or small (miniature). There is also the element of size of the imagery within the artwork space. Some mediums tend to dictate the size of the artwork. And then there is the issue of proportion and measurements, sizes of parts in the relationship of the whole.” Featured artists include Blake Cook, Dennis Long, Catherine Rozmarynowycz, Russ Revock, Brinsley Tyrrell, Tony Trunzo, Diane Marrapese, Aimee Lee, Gene Epstein, Amy Fishbach, Rhodes Rozman, Tyler Heganbarth, Reid Wood, Ryan Craycraft, Stevie Tanner and Jan Zorman. A collection of Russian miniatures (collection of Joan Perch) will also be on display. Special funding is provided by the Center for Teaching Excellence. This condensed version takes place in the woods outside Athens, a hilarious and heartwarming version in 30 minutes. Spring Break Workshop for Youth Open to students in grades 5-12 At the audition, 13 to 20 participants will be selected for roles in the 30-minute adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream Those who accept roles will be charged a $130 registration fee which includes: · One full week of intensive rehearsals under Artistic Director Debbie Cluts · One performance with audience · Cast party · Script to keep AUDITIONS Saturday Mar. 10 from 11am to 1pm* Actors should prepare a one-minute classic or contemporary monologue and, if possible, bring a current headshot and resume. *This is an open call audition, but appointments are requested.
