EVENT:A Christian Mini-Musical - "A Clean Start at the Sunrise Laundromat" One of Dover Players local playwrights, Gregory J. Lavelle, created a Christian mini-musical based on his original full length musical, A Fresh Start at the Sunrise Laundromat, performed by Dover Players in the summer of 2012. “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney to be performed by Harriet DeVeto at Western Reserve Playhouse November 4th at 8PM. Local theatre luminary, Harriet DeVeto, performs a staged reading of Julia Sweeney’s “Letting Go of God.” DeVeto is thrilled to be back on the WRP stage after appearing in “Scotland Road”, directed by Co-Artistic Director Brian Westerley, earlier this fall. DeVeto has appeared on local & regional stages, including a stint with the Great Lakes Theatre Festival. Her most recent performances include: “4000 Miles” & “The Waverly Gallery” at Weathervane; “Sans Merci” at None Too Fragile; “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” at Stow Players; “Night of January 16th" at WRP; & her OCTA award-winning role as Silda in “Other Desert Cities” at Wolf Creek Players. East Cleveland Theater is hosting auditions for August Wilson's Jitney. Part of Wilson's, The Century Cycle, it is the eighth play in his 10-play series. Jitney takes place in Pittsburgh, PA, in the 1970s. We are seeking eight (8) adult African American men of all age ranges and types and one African American woman. *Synopsis:* The story is about a gypsy cab company in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania during the 1970s, its workers, and how they deal with each other and the changing landscape of their neighborhood. Improvements can be made while maintaining a performance schedule, but one must be careful and diligent. As a teacher, I am patient and thoughtful. New singers: learn to breathe for singing. It may not be what you think or were told and the repertoire of songs you will learn: everyone loves them. Hudson Players Kicks Off Season Friday with Intense Courtroom Drama "A Few Good Men" The Hudson Players season starts off strong with "A Few Good Men," an intense military courtroom drama written by award-winning Aaron Sorkin. Directed by Brian Westerley, the show will be presented November 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17 & 18, 2017, at the Barlow Community Center, 41 South Oviatt Street in Hudson. Showtime is 8:00 p.m., except for the 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, November 12.
