Weathervane Playhouse presents the multi-Tony Award-winning Hairspray. "You Can't Stop the Beat" in this delightful story of dancing, romance, and social justice. AKRON - The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, the winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, makes its way to the Weathervane stage June 8 through July 2. This family-friendly musical is piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs. It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire - to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do! Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring a Director of Patron Services/Box Office Manager. This role will function as a department head, will be a core part of the CPT staff and will make a meaningful contribution to life at CPT and its success. CPT is looking for an upbeat, charming, helpful person to engage with patrons by phone and in person and get them excited about their CPT experience. This role is responsible for managing and recording box office transactions including online ticketing, and production and season ticket reporting. The role will manage the CPT ticketing and CRM database. This role manages box office staff, house managers, bartenders and other front of house staff. This role will also engage with donors around benefit event ticketing. This role coordinates food & beverage for receptions and small parties. This position must frequently exercise independent judgment, initiative and the ability to constantly re-prioritize competing responsibilities. Previous Box Office experience is required. Candidates fluent in Spanish are especially desirable. This employee will report to the General Manager. Like all staff members, the role will actively contribute to the working environment and culture at CPT and the success of the organization. The successful candidate will be collaborative, eager to learn and dedicated to working in theatre. CPT has a demanding working environment with long, intense hours, but we have fun and love what we do. We value hard work, kindness, generosity, passion and grace-under-pressure. CPT serves a diverse audience and works to make its staff diverse as well. Work week is 40+ hours, with regular evenings and weekends required October through June. Through puppets, music, movement, improvisation, story-telling and acting, students develop communication skills, teamwork, confidence, and creative expression. The session culminates with a student-created presentation for family and friends that gives kids a taste of what goes into producing and performing a show. TCT Summer Puppet and Mask Camp is open to kids (ages 6-10) and early teens (ages 11-14). The camp runs for one week, Monday through Friday. Students build puppets and masks, and write their own stories to perform for parents and friends at week's end. All masks and puppets made are theirs to keep. The English Speaking Union In cooperation with the Great Lakes Theater Education Department present All-City Shakespeare Festival: A Midsummer Night’s Dream The first annual benefit to support the funding of Shakespearean programming for students and teachers across Northeast Ohio. We are currently looking for young actors to perform scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a one night only, site specific production at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens AUDITIONS: Auditions are Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 6:30PM-10PM at West Side Alliance Church 3800 Bridge Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113 for actors and students aged 14-18 for various roles in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Festival performance will be on the evening of July 21 at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. Young actors will perform scenes from Midsummer alongside professional Teaching Artists.
