ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST OPPORTUNITY Rainey is immediately seeking applications and class proposals from Drama Teaching Artists, for the 2025 After School Arts SCREENS Program. Applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. The Drama Teaching Artist’s responsibilities include: Preparing and executing weekly lesson plans, and participating in periodic planning sessions to develop and ensure curriculum is age-appropriate, effective, and aligned with the overall goals and outcomes of Rainey’s Arts Education department, including: To facilitate artistic exploration. To provide technical arts education. To support social and emotional development. Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects and embraces students' diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and families to foster collaboration and support student growth. Designing classes and projects that allow participants to develop artistic skills, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, community-building, and collaboration skills. Instructing and facilitating classes in a manner that keeps participants engaged, safe, focused, and productive throughout their duration. Conducting participant assessments and evaluations (as deemed appropriate and necessary by program manager) to document growth and development throughout sessions. CPT announces a free workshop with nationally recognized theatre creator Raymond Bobgan. This workshop will serve as an introduction to Raymond’s unique approach to physical theatre/performance and as an audition for the upcoming CPT CORE Ensemble project. WORKSHOP & AUDITION Raymond Bobgan is creating a new work and is seeking additional actors for the creation ensemble. This is a devising theatre process that does not begin with a script. Raymond’s work is highly physical and involves forms of contact improvisation. There may be weight-sharing, physical touch, and high cardio work. The work also involves singing, but voice training is not needed. The project is in development, and new actors will join the process March 15. We may allow some actors to join the process as late as March 22. Rehearsals mostly run Monday through Thursday, 6:30–10pm, and Saturday, 1–5pm (there will be some exceptions), until the last few weeks, where we move to six rehearsals a week. Tech rehearsals will be on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, previews on Thursday and Friday, May 29 and 30, and opening on Saturday, May 31. Closing on Saturday, June 14. Actors joining the performance run of this production will be paid a fee of $2500. THE AUDITION The audition is a free two-day workshop on March 1, 1–7pm, and March 2, 2–9pm. Following a troop of actors after they celebrate the close of their play, "The Game's Afoot" is a comedic mystery that will keep the audience in stitches and guessing the entire way. A lead who's a little too interested in his role as Sherlock Holmes, long-time friends, lovers, and barely tolerated acquaintances bring chaos after everyone is snowed into a house with a dead body. Audiences will laugh, gasp, and keep guessing throughout the show while figuring out who-dun-it and seeing if the scandal can be hidden from the wider world. Roving Rogue Pro was founded in 2020, after initially starting as the Spring Hill Players in association with Spring Hill Historic Home in 2016. Peter Anthony Fields sat in the Playwright's Spotlight and shared his experience fighting Parkinson's and how his diagnosis changes his creative pursuit. We discuss not only the physical afflictions of the disease but also the mental symptoms, his transition from filmmaker to playwright, advice for other creatives whom might be trying to overcome a disease or disability and the tools to help them cope but, also, the gifts having a disability may offer. We talk about self publishing and promotion, facets of playwriting playwright's shouldn't burden themselves with, how minute direction can change a piece, and the ramifications of a character's action. Come join us for a staged reading of the original play Church Girls by Brandi Eaton this Saturday, February 22 at 7:30PM at the Heritage Barn in Silver Springs Park in Stow. The address is 5238 Young Road. After growing up in Church together and then growing apart, five young women reconvene for an evening of sharing stories, discussing shared trauma, and exploring what it means to survive your teen years and come out the other side as different people. A discussion of the play will take place after the reading with the playwright. Admission is free. Donations are greatly appreciated. Brandi Eaton is an actor, director, and internationally published and award-winning playwright. Her writing credits include *Matt’s First (Real) Thanksgiving* - a full-length play that has been performed multiple times around NE Ohio and *A Telegram in the World of Smartphones*-a ten-minute play that has been performed internationally and won first place at the 2014 8X10 TheatreFest at Weathervane Playhouse, amount others. She recently directed The Secret Adversary. Brandi is also the current director of the cast of Murder in the Mansion, an interactive Murder Mystery that takes place yearly at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron. She is a SMFHS graduate, calls Stow home, and currently serves on the board at Stow Players.
