*The Musical Theater Project is looking for exceptional teaching artists to bring the joy of musical theater to elementary school students throughout Northeast Ohio during the 2016-17 school year!* Explore the themes, stories and characters of classic musicals like Peter Pan and The Wizard Of Oz through dance, song and creative play. Our critically acclaimed Kids Love Musicals! program continues to grow, and we need gifted teachers and performers willing to share their art and heart. Function: · Deliver services related to Kids Love Musicals! (KLM), an educational outreach residency and workshop program grounded in classic musical theater and TMTP’s educational approach · Provide feedback and information to assess and modify the program as appropriate Responsibilities: · Work with TMTP staff and consultants to learn curriculum, songs, and preferred teaching strategies and program outcomes; participates in continued training as required by TMTP · Implement KLM’s structured curriculum supporting: State of Ohio curriculum standards in English Language Arts and theater arts; best practices in intergenerational programming and special education environments; and desired outcomes for Social and Emotional Learning · Lead classes in Northeast Ohio schools through singing, acting and dancing to explore the stories of five classic musicals: "Cinderella," "Peter Pan," "The Wizard of Oz," “The Jungle Book,” and “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.” · Facilitate discussion in personally meaningful themes such as overcoming inhibitions, achieving dreams, peer pressure, friendship, and valuing individuals beyond surface appearance · Arrive for scheduled programs on time and prepared; ensure that programs are on schedule within allotted classroom times; work with teachers to guide students in relevant and appropriate behavior/actions. · Participate in self-evaluation strategies as requested; support TMTP’s assessment objectives and practices for each residency or workshop. · Communicate with TMTP staff regularly; consult TMTP’s calendars and request necessary information from TMTP staff; track and report hours and program results at the conclusion of each workday. Qualifications: TMTP Teaching Artists are: · Mature, responsible and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy sharing their passion with students, specifically in grades K-5, and potentially with students in K-12 special education classrooms. · Capable of independently leading exciting and challenging classes that engage students and use multiple teaching strategies to deliver lesson plans. · Role models who build meaningful connections with students through positive reinforcement, effective classroom management and clear boundaries. · Committed to the art form of musical theater and/or arts education Additional qualifications: · Demonstrated performance and singing experience · Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills · Ability to meet performance standards including attendance, reporting and punctuality · Reliable automobile · Successful completion of criminal background check process. Teaching artists work 2-4 days per week, typically 5-6 hours per day during school hours (between 8am-3pm). Teaching artists work as independent contractors with our *Kids Love Musicals!* program. Cleveland POPS Orchestra Chorus, Announces Auditions Cleveland POPS Orchestra Chorus with Director William Zurkey will be holding auditions for new members for our upcoming 2016-2017 Twentieth Anniversary concert season Auditions will be held one day only - Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in room G-17 of the Music and Communications Building, Cleveland State University, downtown campus. The Cleveland POPS Orchestra Chorus is a membership organization that performs with Carl Topilow and the Cleveland POPS Orchestra at numerous concerts and events throughout the Orchestra's concert season. Most performances will take place at Severance Hall and PlayhouseSquare Center. The chorus will rehearse on most Monday evenings from September through May. Singers (ages 18 and up) wishing to audition must have previous choral experience and demonstrate good tone quality and sight-reading skills. Applicants will be asked to prepare a solo that best demonstrates their vocal skills. Bring sheet music to the audition. No accompanist will be provided. Auditions are by appointment only. Hours vary due to performance schedules.Job Summary: - Resident Scenographer - Serves as Technical Supervisor for productions including but not limited to: 5 Playmakers’ productions, 9 Francine and Benson Pilloff Family Performing Arts Camp shows, and any future tours - Responsible for technical oversight of all Playmakers, Performing Arts Camp, and sponsored events that take place in Fairmount Temple Theatre, Stonehill Auditorium, or other related venues - Acts as technical contact/consultant for all other JCC sponsored and non-JCC theatre related projects that fall under the umbrella of Playmakers and Performing Arts Camp Primary Responsibilities - Responsible for designs and technical aspects of productions/events sponsored by Playmakers, including construction, installation, and overall completion of scenery, lighting, sound, properties, special effects required for each production. - Order material as needed - Plan budget with Director of Youth Theatre - Responsible for: - Maintaining all equipment and materials - Arranging for equipment rentals - Locating and securing backstage crews (for construction, installation, run crew, and strike) - Attend and assist during all production meetings - Attend and assist during dry tech, wet tech or full tech, and tech week rehearsals - Strike shows following the last performance of each production - Teach as needed in Performing Arts Camp - Where rentals and other special events are not sponsored by Playmakers or Performing Arts Camp, the Production Director’s responsibilities are to the facility and its equipment. He/she shall not be expected to design or make provisions for these events, which may negatively impact upcoming sponsored scheduled productions and events. - Consult with Playmakers Director in developing long range and short range plans, seasons, and maintaining production values Qualifications - BFA in Technical Direction or Scenic Design with at least 5 years of experience. - MFA preferred - Ability to work well with others - Multi-tasking - Work within budget and production deadlines - Strong technical expertise and problem solving ability - Design experience in all areas of technical theatre (sound, lighting, props) - Welding, building, painting skills - Teaching experience - Past experience in light design, sound, knowledge of tools, techniques used to live entertainment, specifically at this facility - Proven electrical ability - Ability to read/translate ground plans and blueprints - Proficiency in scenic painting - Team skills – cooperation, creativity, good humor - Flexibility with schedules and tasks - Ability to communication effectively and patiently with representatives from other JCC departments
