Brecksville Theater on the Square (BTOTS) and TrueNorth Cultural Arts are teaming up to Strike Out Mental Illness! Both casts of Next to Normal are going head to head in a bowling competition as a fundraiser to benefit the Greater Cleveland chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI is the largest not for profit, grass roots organization that focuses on mental health. We are looking for sponsors for the event, which takes place April 16th at Corner Alley downtown from 6-8. All proceeds will go to NAMI. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please reach out to Kaleigh Judson at kaleighjudson(a)gmail.com. Mental illness is something that affects so many people in different ways and no two cases are alike. Should you choose to donate to NAMI, as a thank you, we will feature your name or logo on the jerseys we are creating for Strike Out Mental Illness, in addition to a thank you recognition in our program. City Ballet of Cleveland2016 Audition�Date: April 10, 2016Time: 1:00 pm-2:30 pmFollowed by Parents’ Meeting at 2:30 pm� The City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC) audition is open to all serious dancers of ballet ages 10-21.� The company has two annual performances in May and December, as well as performances at All Ohio Dance Festival, Regional Dance America, and local schools.� Applications are available upon request at the Front Desk and online at www.cityballetofcleveland.org� under Company information. Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance.� If you do make it into the Company, you would need your current dance school to sign off monthly to confirm you are taking the required dance training in order to dance with the Company. All potential Company members must audition in the Spring prior to the upcoming season. This includes all current Company members.� There is a $25 non-refundable audition (cash or check) which will be applied toward the Company fall participation fee. The audition class will be taught by the Company Artistic and Executive Director, Courtney J. Laves-Mearini. If unable to attend the April audition.� In lieu of an in-personal audition, one may submit a DVD audition. The DVD audition requirements are: A 15-20 minutes demonstration of barre and center technique.� The barre technique shown should include pli�s, battement tendus, battement j�t�, ronde de jambe, pass�, d�velopp� en croix, grande battements and balances on one leg.� The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro.� (For advance female dancers the center should be on pointe.) A classical variation one to two minutes in length.� (On pointe for advanced ladies) This is to show your technical abilities along with performing presence. Tickets for Cleveland Ballet's Coppélia Now Available!

CLEVELAND, OH April 30, 2016: Cleveland Ballet is pleased to announce that tickets are now available for their commissioned, new version of the comic ballet Coppélia. This world premiere production marks Cleveland Ballets second performance in its debut season at the Ohio Theatre. As Clevelands only resident ballet company, Cleveland Ballet boasts a company of seven core dancers and four apprentices. As a professional ballet company, dancers rehearse full time with Cleveland Ballet for the entire season. In addition, choreographer Oller builds dances and dramatic moments around Cleveland Ballet company members, ensuring a strong and unique-to-Cleveland world premiere production. Coppélia originally premiered 146 years ago in May of 1870. Ollers wholly new version is an exciting for the city and Cleveland Ballet. Company member Jason L. Wang sees the benefit of transforming a classic for todays audience,I love classical works, and its rare to have an opportunity to be a part of a new vision of a classic. I believe Oller will breathe new life into Coppélia and give the audiences something theyve never experienced before. Coppélia tells the story of Swanhilda and Frantz whose carefree romance is threatened when Frantz becomes infatuated with the beautiful Coppélia. Frantz does not know that his heart belongs to a life-size doll created by the towns toy maker Dr. Coppélius. Because Franzs passion for Coppelia is so great he pushes aside his true love, Swanhilda. Eager to win back Franzs heart, Swanhilda dresses like the doll Coppélia fooling both men into believing the doll has come to life. The danger mounts as Dr. Coppélius seeks to keep the living doll hidden from the world while Frantz tries to run away with his new-found love. Families, teens and senior volunteers welcome. Our next Road to Hope event is Saturday, April 9th, 6:00pm-9:00pm at the historic Christ Episcopal Church in Shaker Heights, 3445 Warrensville Road, Cleveland OH 44122.
