Otherwise, we will just assign you the best available slot. We will do our best to accommodate you. *If you cannot make auditions, please email us your headshot and resume for consideration. If possible, submit a video audition for consideration. We do our best to see and consider additional people, but attending auditions is always ideal. Audition Date: Monday October 7 or Wednesday October 9 Time: 7:00pm-10:00pm What to prepare: Please prepare one or two brief (32 bars) pop-style songs, or in the style of the show, showing range. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a headshot and resume to auditions. Headshots and resumes are appreciated, but not required. Performance Dates: December 6 - 21 Shows will be Thursday-Sunday. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00pm. Sunday performances will be at 7:00pm. Rehearsals: Begin Monday November 4th Rehearsals will be Sundays-Thursdays. Typically, 7pm-10pm, though Sundays are usually 6pm-10pm. Pay: Blank Canvas Theatre dedicates 20% of the net profit to the cast of each show. The cast splits this evenly. *At this time there are no AEA Contracts for this show. However, we may explore the option if needed. Location: Blank Canvas Theatre 1305 78th Street, Suite 211 (at 78th Street Studios) Cleveland, OH 44102 The Story A foot-stomping, rafter-raising musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy band on the last night of their national "Raise the Praise" tour. The Boyz are five all-singing, all-dancing heartthrobs from Ohio: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham. With their tight harmonies and spectacular choreography, the Altar Boyz delight their audience. Performing a full set, including their signature hits "Rhythm In Me," "The Calling" and "I Believe," the Boyz question their loyalty to each other and ask whether or not faith is really holding them together. In the end, they deliver a message of unity: "there is no star as bright as its constellation, no harmony in a single voice." Character Breakdown We encourage performers of all races, ethnicities, sexualities, and body types to audition. Male identifying actors between the age of 18-40. Strong singers and dancers are required for this show. Matthew: The handsome and charismatic founder and leader of the group. Vocal range: Baritone - C3 to B4 Mark: A very sensitive young man who loves Cher. Comedic role. Vocal range: Tenor - C3 to E5 Luke: The bad boy of the group. Streetwise, but rather dim in every other way. Raised on the wrong side of tracks. Vocal range: Baritone - C3 to A4 Juan: The Latin lover with a passion for beautiful women. Vocal range: Baritone - C3 to Bb4 Abraham: The nice Jewish boy who loves hip-hop. Abe loves singing and dancing and is the member of the group who understands the message better than the rest. NOTE: This is a zero-budget, non-paid student film, but make no mistake - this is a production I take very seriously. My name is Ron Sonedecker, I am a 51 year old USAF Veteran and a Film student at Kent State University. I am directing a student short that I wrote - "Stolen Valor". Taglines: "Behind every story lies a deeper wound." "Behind every story lies a deeper wound. And some lies hide a painful truth." Loglines: "A stranger joins a War Veteran’s support group, hiding a personal grief behind a false identity, but when the truth is uncovered, their shared pain binds them all in unexpected ways." "A newcomer to a veteran’s support group hides behind a fabricated story, but when his real motive is uncovered, the group must confront a deeper, shared loss." This is a short story about the father of a soldier who was recently KIA, and he seeks connection at a War Veteran's meeting - but he does so by pretending to be a veteran himself, which does not go over well. But once he reveals the truth, he is fully accepted into the group. We'll be shooting some time in the second half of October in Kent and Stow. Auditions may be done only virtually, but also feel free to send any demo reels. She has also worked as the casting director for Francis Ford Coppola on his films The Rainmaker (Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Jon Voight) and Jack (Robin Williams, Diane Lane, Jennifer Lopez,) The Secret Garden, Heaven’s Prisoners, Wind, over fifty feature films, and award-winning short films and TV shows. *Paul Palo *has joined wife Linda for the past few years as a producing and casting partner working on several edgy independent films. Most recently as Associate Producers and casting directors on Happiness Runs. Paul has an extensive production background and was nominated for an Emmy for Aids the Global Explosion, as well as four Telly awards for his documentary work In Iraq, South Africa, and domestically, and a Parents Choice Award for interactive “Voyage Through the Solar System.” Paul also worked on ABC’s Castle as an actor for 7 seasons.
