CPT is seeking *part-time Substitute Teaching Artists* to assist in implementing CPT Education programming. Theatre experience is a plus. We are looking to build a strong core of artists who are dedicated to creating work to further racial and economic justice. This role pays $22/hr. ------------------------------ CMHA CLEVELAND ACT NOW CMHA Cleveland Act Now (CAN) takes place in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) at community centers for children and families who live in public housing. Under the guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, young artists learn how to create and perform their own plays, dance, poetry, music, and visual art. These multidisciplinary performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking. The students regularly perform at CMHA community centers as well as arts festivals throughout Cleveland. CMHA CAN is offered in four CMHA communities: Lakeview Terrace, Woodhill Homes, Outhwaite Homes, and Riverside Park. CLEVELAND ACT NOW ACADEMY (CAN ACADEMY) Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy is a free performing arts program for younger teens and youth from Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods, held on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. The Juniors program serves youth ages 7-10, and the Seniors program serves youth ages 11-14. Young artists engage in rigorous (and fun!) theatre training, learning acting fundamentals, script analysis, storytelling techniques, and play creation. Y-HAVEN THEATRE PROJECT Y-Haven Theatre Project is a program for residents of Y-Haven, a YMCA center providing temporary housing and Substance Use Disorder treatment to individuals who are homeless, re-entering the community from incarceration, and/or recovering from Opioid Use Disorder. The program teaches performing arts and technical aspects of theatre while addressing critical personal, interpersonal, and job-related skills through a comprehensive process. Based on Edgar Allen Poe's haunting poem of the same name. *Roles*: *Josephine*: (20-40, female-identifying) The bride. Haunted by the loss of her soul mate, but attempting to move forward. The play finds her on the night of her honeymoon torn between the life she wanted so badly and the life that may be already heading off the rails. *Don*: (20s-40s, male-identifying) Josephine's husband who checks all the right boxes on paper but presents flashes of less than idyllic character. *Benny*: (18-30s) Josephine's first, and maybe only true love. Craves to be reunited with Josephine, even if for just a moment, even if it hurts terribly. He has been frustrated by years of a mismatched marriage and is intimidated by his wife while mooning over his former love interest, Pamela. Pamela – (Female, 30s-50s) The somewhat cynical divorcee who has left Dickie (Director of the Crouching Squirrel) behind. She is the helper, the fixer upper of things gone bad, the object of Bingham’s devotion. Dickie – (Male, 30s-50s) The insufferable bore who is the Director of the Crouching Squirrel. He dresses loudly and tastelessly meaning that his appearance matches his personality. Muriel – (Female, 30s-50s) The overbearing wife of Bingham. TEACHING ARTISTS Spark is seeking teaching artists for fall classes below: Keystone Drama Classes Weeks of October 16-December 5th (no class the weeks of Halloween and Thanksgiving) Wednesdays (grades K-2) 3:30-4:30 Thursdays (grades 3-5) 3:30-4:30pm Location: Keystone Elementary School, Lagrange, OH Pay Rate: $50/hr The ideal candidate has experience leading elementary school students of varying skill levels in a fun, safe, environment. We are seeking a teaching artist who is self-driven, and comfortable creating activities such as warm-ups, games, and exercises over 6 weeks of classes that can culminate in a final performance for parents either in person or filmed and emailed following the final class. Activities can include improvisation, creating characters, working with scripts, and playwriting. There is generally no music or dance included within these classes. Each class is capped at 15 students. Ideally, one teaching artist would be available for both the Wednesday AND Thursday session, but consideration will also be made for teaching artists who are only available for one of the classes listed above. This teaching artist will be working with minors, within a public school, and must also pass a background screening.
