"The Addams Family" opens at Huntongton Playhouse

Huntington Playhouse will present present "The Addams Family" from October 22 to November 15. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM with one Sunday matinee on November 15th at 2:00 PM. There is a Halloween performance where we are encouraging patrons to come in costume and get photos with the cast after the show. It's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents. Well, I am not so sure that is what you will get as either an audience member or an actor. I like to think that this group of theatre artists, including Sondheim, Lapine, Burns, Cooper, Benson, Simna and Friedman think outside the box and look at things a bit differently. We look at this musical play not just to do it differently, but rather to take a look at an old friend and see how much WE have changed. *Audition Information: * *Auditions will be held on October 25 and 26 between 7pm and 10pm at Lakeland Community College in Building D. **Please prepare TWO contrasting Sondheim pieces, each16-32 bars long. Jordan Cooper, the musical director, will choose one of the songs for you to sing. **You need only come to one of the audition dates. YOU DO NOT NEED AN AUDITION TIME. VOICE LESSON EXCHANGE If you would like to study singing but resist the high cost of voice lessons, consider studying voice free of charge with Coeli Ingold. The acclaimed soprano, a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve, offers free voice lessons to those who cantor the Sunday Masses at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bedford. Noted for her “immaculate technique” (NJ Courier Post), Ms. Ingold served on the faculty of The Cleveland Music School Settlement for over a decade, where she taught private voice lessons to all ages and voice types, as well as directed the Madrigal Ensemble. She has sung in operas, recitals and with orchestras throughout the Northeast Ohio area and surrounding states, and appeared in France and Switzerland. She has been a cantor for The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist since 1991. You will be expected to walk around the public areas of Mapleside Farm and talk to the customers while in character. Costumes provided. The dates are October 24 and 25. Ho, ho, ho! Have you planned your holiday entertainment? Hire the GLLO Singers! It’s never too early to start thinking about the holidays and planning your seasonal events! Whether it’s an office Christmas party, a public event, or a family gathering, a vocal quartet can add class and merriment. The GLLO Singers of the Great Lakes Light Opera are all professional singers with vocal performance degrees from prestigious universities, including the Cleveland Institute of Music. You have your choice of an all-female quartet (SSAA) or of a mixed quartet (SATB). For large events, we suggest a larger musical group. We can offer various vocal combinations to accommodate any and all events! The GLLO Singers can perform a cappella arrangements of carols, or if you prefer accompanied music for your event, the GLLO Singers can accommodate that request as well. In order to have an accompanist included, you must have either an electrical outlet or a piano onsite. The GLLO Singers’ repertoire includes all your favorites, and we take requests, so never hesitate to ask! Rates: The GLLO Singers charge $250 for the first hour and $200 per subsequent hour for a cappella holiday entertainment payable on the day of the event.
