The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is looking for musicians for its 2016 Transit Tracks music program. The selection musicians or groups will play during the evening rush hour from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted.) There is pay. Cleveland Opera Theater is holding auditions for 3 roles in Previn’s “A Streetcar Named Desire,” running Dec. 4 and Dec. 6. Auditions by appointment are held on Thursday, Oct. 8th at the Cleveland Masonic Auditorium, E. 36th and Euclid Ave, from 6:00 – 8:00PM. Roles being cast: 1. Steve (tenor/speaking role): Stanley Kowalski's poker buddy. Steve is brutish, hot-blooded and an abusive husband. 2. A Doctor (speaking, non-singing role): Arrives at the play's finale to escort Blanche to an asylum. His image conforms to Blanche's notions of a chivalric Southern gentleman. 3. Pablo: (non-singing/non-speaking role) Another of Stanley's poker buddies. Pablo is Hispanic and emphasizes the cultural diversity of their neighborhood. Event: - WordStage Literary Concerts Opens Its Fifth Season

WordStage presents A program of Civil War Love Letters In commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War “I am in hopes that I will get a whole package of letters from you in a few days. I never wanted to see you half as bad in all my life as I do now.” When he wasn’t marching, fighting, or setting up camp, the Civil War soldier might take a few moments to write to his loved ones at home. These letters often contain accounts of battles, life in camp, and general news. But many soldiers, as they marched off to face the enemy, had left behind a wife or sweetheart, and to them they would compose sweet, poignant, and occasionally funny letters that give life and personality to the participants in this great national conflict. These letters show their sorrows of being apart, fears that the soldier would not return home, and hopes for the future after the war’s end. The letters, presented by WordStage readers Tim Tavcar and Agnes Herrmann and underscored with the poignant music of the Civil War Era played by Jan C. Snow on the Hammered Dulcimer, portray the many facets of the soldiers in love. Originally commissioned by the Heights Libraries in February of 2015, this performance will take place at the Wright Chapel within the Lakewood Presbyterian Church complex, 14502 Detroit Avenue at Marlowe in Lakewood, OH – On Friday, September 25th at 7:30pm. The BTC is an extracurricular club at that offers 6th through 8th grade students in our district the opportunity to explore all aspects of theatre: from onstage to backstage to front of house, our students run our Company.
