These *Drop-In Classes *are the perfect commitment-free answer. *Not that any of you have commitment issues!* *IMPROV FOR THE THEATRE - Hot Fun In The Summertime!* These *Drop-In Classes *focus on the basics of performance improvisation. Topics covered include: agreement (“yes and”); active listening; using the environment; basic narrative skills; understanding stage status; and making your fellow improviser look good. Film. Literature. Current Events. We will explore the importance of every Improvisor to stay connected and immersed in our culture. We will do this through such Improv performance games as "Film Dubbing", "Group Expert", and "Styles". *August 22 - THIS IS LONG FORM * This Workshop explores the unique Chicago-Style Long Form , known as the HAROLD ; Conceived by Improv Guru , Del Close. Workshop Players present *It Runs In The Family*, a comedy by Ray Cooney, directed by Mason Adams. Set in a hospital, *It Runs in the Family* contains the usual assortment of farcical nuts running in and out of doors mistaking everybody for someone else, as Dr. Mortimore (Jonathan McCleery) tries to fend off a paternity suit, an ex wife, a punkish son and various other lunatics so that he may, at last, deliver the Ponsonby Lecture in an international conference. The cast includes: Kevin Boland, Marcia Deist, Anthony DeJesus, Jenny Erbs, Dale Hruska, Shelbey Linder, Janet Lynch, Tom Majercik, Dennis Runkle, Brad Sales and Maria Vitale-Gesmond. Another movie crew is coming to film in Cleveland and we’ve got them for an evening! Watch the trailer here Men of Granite: A Book into A Film Thursday July 16 at 7 pm. Beachwood Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library 25501 Shaker Blvd. MEN OF GRANITE, a book by Dan Manoyan, tells the story of the sons of immigrants who were Hungarian, Armenian, Yugoslavian, and Macedonian growing up in Granite City, Illinois in 1939. A teacher saw something in these struggling kids and introduced them to the Recreation Center, where they began to play basketball together. The town was divided economically and socially, and it was seemingly impossible for these kids to compete on the high school level until their coach allows them to play as a team. And against all odds, they win the 1940 Illinois State Championship in basketball. Meet the author, and the creative team that is turning the book into a movie starring William Hurt, Susan Sarandon and Kevin McHale ( of Glee fame) Valerie McCaffrey, Producer Christopher Harrington, Producer Guy Boudreaux, Producer David McElroy, Producer Patrick Stapleton, Line Producer Dwayne Johnson Cochran, Director Books will be available for purchase and signing.
