Horror Hotel: Awards and Film Selections Announced

THE INTERNATIONAL HORROR HOTEL ANNOUNCES FILM LINEUP AND AWARDS 4th edition will feature a total of 79 films Cleveland, OH (May 1, 2015) – This week, The International Horror Hotel announced its official awards list and film selections for the 4th edition of the festival. Horror Hotel is a yearly celebration of the best independent horror and science fiction films from around the world, uniting film fans, filmmakers and industry professionals who share a love of the genre. This year's festival will highlight 17 feature films and 62 short films from around the world. The films featured in the lineup represent 15 states and 15 foreign countries. These will screen in two screening rooms over a period of three days, June 5th-7th. The festival also features two days of film lectures and panel discussions, a convention, special effects makeup competitions, scream queen competition, networking parties and more. “Not only do you get to see great horror films, you also meet the creators of the films: the producers, directors, actors, writers, crew,” says festival director Ray Szuch. “Unlike many festivals, all of our attendees are in one location for the entire weekend, maximizing the opportunity for industry networking and a chance for spectators to meet the filmmakers and learn more about the creative process.” All festival events will be held at The Clarion Inn & Conference Center, located at 6625 Dean Memorial Parkway in Hudson, Ohio, conveniently located between Cleveland and Akron. WOLVES OPENS NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 8 AT CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM convergence-continuum presents the Ohio premiere of Steve Yockeys urban fable, WOLVES, a darkly comic, predatory fairy tale for adults that involves sex and fear in modern culture, the comfort of lava lamps, and the dangers of a handy axe. WOLVES takes place during a long and eventful night at the apartment of Ben and his ex-boyfriend, now roommate, Jack. Ben, never the most stable of young men, has recently moved from a small town to the big city, where he harbors a full-blown paranoia about the place where he lives, which he thinks of as the deep, dark forest, and has an outrageous fear of the wolves that prowl it. To taunt the clingy, jealous Ben, and to prove that the city isnt what Ben imagines it to be, Jack brings home a wolf from a bar one night. Though a series of misunderstandings, things turn violent (that axe is involved) and its up to the determined and bitingly funny female narrator to guide us through to the end of this postmodern fracturing of the Red Riding Hood yarn. WOLVES is directed by convergence-continuums Cory Molner (MilkMilkLemonade, Based on a Totally True Story, etc.), and features company actors Beau Reinker and Eric Sever, and con-con newcomers Wesley Allen and Theresa Pedone. A good-looking, pleasant guy. A good friend to Kennedy who wants to be more, unrequited love. In his last year of law school which he attends with Kennedy. GREGORY TALBOT - Kennedy's family attorney. Late 60’s. Low-key. Genial. Loyal to the Blaines. He's watched Kennedy grow to be an adult and only wants the best for her. SMITH BLAINE - Mid-40’s. Could stand to lose some weight. Disarming confidence-- a sizable fish in a very small pond. As the story unfolds it's revealed Smith has been skimming money from Kennedy's father and the Circle Cross Ranch for a number of years. A slick opportunist/con man who has never been caught - until now. PASTOR MORGAN - Late 60’s. A big man. Kind smile. That rare person utterly comfortable in his skin. Kennedy's "long lost" second cousin who welcomes Kennedy to Valentine and gets her involved in a church charity bringing Inner City kids to the country to experience out door living. ROBIN - Mid-40’s. Avid church goer, attends all the events and charities. A pleasant, professional woman. She runs the Historical Society and plays a key role bringing Kennedy and Derek closer together, ultimately keeping Kennedy in Valentine for good. LAZARO - Mid-30’s. A big man with a dangerous edge. Hard eyes. A small scar on his cheek. Escaped from prison for murder, has a shady past with Derek when they both lived on the mean streets of Chicago 20 years ago. He tries to extort money out of Derek in return for all the years he lost in prison, for which he blames Derek. YOUNG GABRIEL MORGAN - late 40s, distinct, influential. Read below for more details. GABRIEL MORGAN - late 70s to 80s, distinct, influential. An intimidating old man holding on to a grudge dividing the Morgan family and the Blaine family for 100 years. He disowns his daughter Grace (Kennedy's mother) when she disobeys his orders and marries Kenny Blaine (Kennedy's father). Years later, when Kennedy comes to Valentine she confronts Gabriel, challenging his old ways and his ability to forgive himself for what he did to her family. When Grace's diary is found and read by Kennedy we see the love story between Grace and Kenny play out and ultimately change Kennedy's fate in Valentine. Boesel Musical Arts Center, 49 Seminary St., Berea. Seeking new members (college students and men from the community) to join 100-member group, to perform five concerts, sing the national Anthem at an Indians game, and sing a live Christmas-season performance on WCLV during the 2015-2016 season (late August to Early May). Auditions 5-10 PM Monday May 4th or otherwise by appointment. Email director Frank Bianchi at fbianchi(a)bw.edu. Previous musical experience and sight reading skills are preferred.
